Anyone use the Super Swamper LTBs 40x16 17s? Thinking of buying a set because they are soooo cheap for 40s. Do they suck off road? Why are they so cheap?

...

there are good tires, its just every once and awhile you get one that will peel the outside layer of rubber on the tread, but interco will replace it if you keep your reciept. but for the price they are a great tire. not as good in my opinion as iroks but a good offroad tire all around.

Since you already have 17" wheels, which is now the most popular size for the best available off road tires - Krawler, Maxxis Treps, etc., I would save up for those. Unless you just wanna go mudding, get the Swampers. I'm an Interco guy, but in your case, I'd swap brands.

I already have 37" krawlers but I'm looking to go to 40's. Its either Iroks or everything else is $

Just noticed the Krawler knobbies in your avatar. Your Cruzah looks pretty nice & I'm sure you've sunk some ca$h into it as most of us have. That being said, stop being cheap & shop around  There are many tire vendors on Pirate, & in my experience, the quotes have been MUCH cheaper than what I can get from a local 4 Wheel Parts or other local tire shop, including shipping.

I thought ( and only based in what I seen from 'em in the trail on other rigs never in mine ) are great tire .. much more complete tire than Iroks that wear incredible fast to me ..

but that's just my opinion ..

i would measure the tire first and make sure its 40".your only going to gain an inch and a half ,if the tire is only 39 or 39 and 1/2 you gain less for the money.the guys i mud with run both brands and seem to do about the same dont know about in the rocks though.good luck

Yes Kling-on, that's true, on my LTB it's written MADE IN CHINA

I thought that they were Made in the United States, it's sad to see this

I run the 40" LTBs and I like them. They're way better than my old Iroks. The iroks had to be aired down to almost nothing to get any kind of traction, and below 5lbs or so, their flimsy carcasses would fold over and get cut. The LTBs stay a lot squarer, even when aired down. I like that because you don't lose as much clearance with a tire that has some backbone to it. But then again, that gain may be partly from the 17" wheels, which I did not have before.

I'd like to run a sticky eventually but the LTBs do the job for now.

Anyone have a photograph of the 40's? Havent seen any photos of the 40's, just the 47's. Do they look exactly the same (side lugs)? Other than size.
