Hey Matt no worries. The mechanism piece is actually part of the handle it broke off. I think it could be repaired. I can take some more pictures of it if you are still interested.

no worries on my end with the other stuff. I have been so busy with my project I have not thought about it. If you get to a point you have to have it let me know and I will see what the options are.
