ok so since i have gotten it i have pulled wiring, body and all interior items, tranny, t-case, engine is coming out tomorrow or friday. bday present was engine, tranny,t-case going to shop to get looked over and anything repaired. going to be ordering my steering in the next few days from luke at 4x4 labs. still deciding on what size tire i want to run. i am kind of wanting 37's but don't want to have to hack up the body. rig right now is SOA, how would the ride be and flex be if i bought a set of used 2 1/2" lift springs and installed them? really want the stock look but running 37's if not i will run 35's for the time being. also i am wanting a rear bumper from a earlier 40 with the round rear lights. any leads on where to get one? i know it will be hard to find since there permanently attached to the frame with out cutting it off. if anyone knows a company who makes that style that would be greatly appreciated. feel free to voice your opinion on everything and your ideas on things i shouldn't do and things you think would be a good upgrade.

as for paint (i know i am far from body paint but gotta keep the theme thru out the rig) i am thinking original red. if thats what i stick with engine block will be silver, oil pan be oem red, heads silver and intake manifold natural color. are those MT valve covers rare haven't seen them for sale anywhere? should i sand them down and paint them the OEM red as well or leave them black?

i figured out i was missing the plate for the downey adapter, its like $35 from them.

for people with a 350 mounted to stock 4 speed, did you have to cut your tranny hump? mine is cut and i really want the stock boot to fit and look original

stock seats are for sale (all 4) if any one is interested.

engine got pulled today and loaded in the back of the truck tomorrow motor, tranny, and t=case go to the shop to get looked over

another question: i just dropped everything off and he said he would like to re-build the engine just to ensure everythings correct. got no problem with that but what have yal paid to have a 350 rebuilt so i don't get screwed on price/labor?

well t-case is in great shape, tranny needs some repairs (3/4 syncro's and shift fork), engine the guy wants $1800 to rebuild, so might end up with a crate motor since their cheaper and have a 3yr,100,000 warranty. any body know a good site for good prices on motors

looking at this motor:
GM Goodwrench 1970-85 350 Engine & Packages - JEGS

makes 260hp, 350 ft/tq, so it makes really good torque which is what im most after. might look for a 2f if i could get all the parts cheap (less than 1k) and engine was recently rebuilt

first gotta verify the motor i have and make sure the current fly wheel, clutch, intake manifold, will work. will all 350's have interchangable parts or will certain 350's have different bolt patterns, need different fly wheels and clutches, etc?

the guy will sell me a 1f, tranny, tcase for $100. might buy just for spare tranny/t-case and sell the 1f block
