4 speed pto drive to 5 speed??

I have a 4 speed pto drive unit laying around
but i have a 5 speed gearbox in my cruiser
does anyone have any info or links about modding
the drive unit to fit the 5 speed

No idea what the pto drive is off just has one gear inside it

umm 5 speed on mine is the H55f 83 model

look at the bolt pattern if its square it will fit any split case if its ofset it will only fit a single piece transfer

Exactly, PTO's mate to the transfer case so it is dependent on which transfer case you have NOT which tranny you have.

It is said that with some modification you can mount the older PTO drive (made for single piece transfer cases) to the split case but I'd rather just get the right box and be done with it.

Make sure you have the PTO drive gear in the transfer case. Not all trucks have that installed. Some came with a spacer only.

yeah i have pulled the pto cover off the transfer and there
is a gear inside for the pto drive
it is the older style pto
off a single piece transfer where as i have the split transfer

the bolt pattern is out by one bolt hole but i have heard
the gear inside the pto unit needs to have some taken
off it to make the gears mesh right or something?

And the reason why i want to modify it is because its
not easy to come by a pto drive for a split case where i am
and i got two of the single piece transfer pto drives for $50

I recall seeing some instructions for converting the older style PTO box to a split case on a French website. There was some discussion on the board on this topic in the past year or so.
