...Hey guys ,

Looking for some info here for Eron . She has shown an interest in a 4 door taco . Ideally a used one , perhaps a '01 or so . She has these stipulations :

  • 4x4
  • 4 door/crew cab
  • stick
  • V6

We checked on a few trader sites and such , but it's hard to know what years , for instance , a stick was available . Can anyone tell us what years we'll find the configuration named above ?

Thanx !

Well to be specific, all 4-dr Tacoma's sold in the US only come with autos...I know other places got them, I don't know if the Tacoma name is only US and therefore only autos...or how it compares to the Hilux...

I too looked at the 4dr Tacoma closely and if it came in a stick, I'd be in one now, and not have my Cruiser, so guess it's good they are only autos.. :D

I think a bobbed 4-dr Tacoma would look sweet, the bed is already short, so then making it smaller, almost cooler size...lift, 35's, crawler box, even with a auto it's be pretty sweet...

Taco is US made, so the similar hilux's from tiawan or where ever they are made now have much better build quality than the taco. :flipoff2:

...Appreciate the info guys . She wants a smaller truck , so unfortunately she might jump brands to get what config is right for her .

...It would probably be wise of us to ask what out there might .... might approximate the rig outlined above ? ???

TIA

This is an 02 Tacoma. There will be a redesign Tacoma as an 05 model. It will be a midsize truck. :-\

"Just a transmission from junk yard $700(2001 taco w/34,000miles)
Pedal assy. $35
master cyl. $20
slave cyl. $20
clutch $195
flywheel $25
interior parts from Toyota $350 DAMN!
Trans mount $20
I think that was it. The hardest part was going through the wiring to make the truck start. Now I just have to go back through the wires and get the check engine and 4x4 light out. Oh yah the drive lines worked too! Way cool cause I just had them made 4 months ago
It is going to save me money. I have smoked 3 autos in one year so never again I hope."
