Since my 3rd row seats are always in up position. I am thinking about making a base to mount them to create a shop / garage bench. Probably making the base with wood and using the bracket from top of the wheel arch. Also engineer the mounting bracket for the center legs.

What do you think? Any ideas? Input?

Thanks.

that's a pretty cool idea. much better than just having them sit there collecting dust. maybe get a second set of brackets on the cheap so that you can remove them from the base should you need to use them? keep us updated on the progress!

Ha! Thats what I am actually going to do too. I have an extra set of rear seats just for this. I actually use my third row in the vehicle, but found an extra set to make some 'garage chairs'.

Best part about this idea?:hhmm:

:idea:Plenty of leg room!

What about an actual leather couch? Im thinking that it would be slightly more comfortable...

D

That's a good idea. Mine hang on my wall until I need them. Maybe I could fab something up so they hang unfolded at seat level to sit in... :hhmm:

Why not put them in the living room? I see no need to hide such fine specimens of the always useful 3rd row seating.

I've actually been planning to do this after the semester is over. I figured on throwing something together out of mostly lumber and some leftover rod stock at the shop back home. It'll make a great piece of furniture to throw in my apartment living room, and I can swap 'em back into the LC if needed. All you really need to do is emulate the points of contact in the rear, from my inspection, should not be difficult at all. I'll be sure to post pics when I get around to it this summer.

This is in our kids playroom for gaming & DVD watching...
