Looking at putting 87-88 SR5 Graphics on my 89 4Runner. I very much prefer the look of the 87-88 SR5 graphics over the 89 style. I wanted to see if anyone on the forum has experience with 3M vinyl graphics. I see sets on ebay go for around $140-150 compared to $280 or so for the James Dean Creations kit. Any insight / opinions appreciated. I'd be going with silver metallic.

There are a lot on Etsy for a lot less than JD Creations. I was going to go with BLVinyl. I did buy her Toyota steering wheel emblem, fuse box top sticker and tailgate letters. Very nice stuff.

The graphics teacher where I teach has a student who wants to learn wraps and decals and they are doing it. We used 3M outdoor vinyl. The downside to that is that's taking a ton of time and trial and error, but the cost will be minimal and the student gets the experience on a real vehicle.

I went with James Dean Creations graphics, the more I researched, the more I was led back to them.
They make a quality product using 3M materials. I am very happy with their product. It took me years to learn "pay once, cry once"

Hijack... What suspension are you running?

Also... I added some vinyl overlays (wet application) to the tailgate trim instead of painting... just to try it for 10 bucks, and so far I'm really pleased.

Nice!. I'm worried about being too high in the back. Nearly same setup... softopper, rear bumper (4xinovations), and I'm building some drawers, but not huge ones... just some lockable 1/2" toolbox drawers... I only run 31s. Yours looks great! Any chance you could get me a top of rim to bottom of fender measurement sometime? Mahalo!

Measured from center of axel to the lip of rear fender.
Pre: 19.5" (worn out stock & add leaf)
I'm running 32×11.50 r15

That’s way too big of a lift in the back for me. I’m looking for 20.5 maybe 21 at the most. I’m at 20.5 now with an add-a-leaf, but it’s from PO and it’s worn out.... not a great ride. But 23.5 is like 4+ inches over stock. That’s just too much for my goals. The search continues.... I’ll probably have to find a spring pack and remove leafs and what not. Thanks for the info!

I went with the James Dean graphics too. Good quality pieces. I talked to a guy at a toyota meet that had the "other gals" graphic kit on his 83' truck.
Quality looked the same to be honest. Its all 3m materials.

It is all 3M, and the material isn't really spendy it seems.
I respect using JDC. He was providing a good and needed product back when everybody with a craft shop vinyl cutter wasn't pimping s*** on etsy. Thats worth something.
But JL does a lot of cool toyota pieces nobody else does too, and its good quality.

I will second James Dean's graphics - they were used twice on my 1987 Toyota pickup and I have to say the quality was very good. He sells a great product.
