Good morning,

I'm messing with a buddies 88 FJ62 that is having no power if you give it more than say 40% throttle. I'm trying to double check timing and distributor alignment to make sure that is good since lots of people have had their hands in it. I'm currently at verified TDC and I think the rotor alignment is correct. Don't want to pull the dizzy if it's already good. Would like another set of eyes since I've never messed with a 3fe. Btw using a timing light on this thing is the biggest PITA...

I'm sure someone else can confirm but that looks correct. The round divit should be 7 deg BTDC.
To add; check the egr vac control modulator and the cats. Both of these can have similar symptoms for 3FEs.

Btdc

That looks correct but it's easy to be one tooth off and you can't properly set timing. Hook everything back up, warm it up, jumper the T1 and E1 spots in the diagnostic port, and check timing. FSM call for 7* BTDC but the 3FE may run better at 10*.
