3FE Dual battery setup, using an FZJ tray

No clue, it looks as though the little link container is near the isolator in the pic.

OH! That lead actually runs to the main battery on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It was originally connected directly to the alternator.

I finished my dual bats a couple of months ago on my 93. We really do have it a lot easier than you guys. For anyone else doing dual bats, check out "West Marines Combiner 150". It works great in the boats I run and seems to work great in the truck.

You're preaching to the choir, bud. :D

But it's definitely possible. I finally did it last year.

Have you had any issues with the removal of the extra fan?

Looks good BTW.

I've got the tray ordered from the dealer, so soon, very soon I'll have my NL kit installed.

I haven't run that fan ever since the PO took it out. Never had a problem in the 3 1/2 years i've had the truck

......I need to clean it up a bit and get some better terminals for the isolator. The current terminals are shaped weird and VERY close to each other... If you can't tell...

Lane, what worked for me as a "cheap & dirty" insulating cap for the larger lugs was cutting a short length of heater hose and splitting the bottom. The piece of heater hose can then be slid onto the lug thats bolted to the terminal on your isolator. The "memory" that's in the hose will keep it on there for most conditions short of a tornado or hurricane in your engine compartment. IMHO the biggest problem with those exposed lugs is a stray wrench, screwdriver or other conductor causing a short and sparks resulting in possible injury, component damage or fire. A couple minutes of time and a few pennies worth of rubber might save some headaches later on. HTH

Good to know.

Lane, same results as above?

I did have a fan clutch issue, but that's unrelated.

I was looking at the FJ62 "manifold fan" set-up, and wonder if it could fit into an 80, if problems arose?

I take it too, that in UT, you see some temps in the 90s and possibly 100s?

It might, but my isolator is right where the 62 fan would go.

Yeah, unfortunately...

Well, FZJ80 tray arrived over the weekend, so I should be installing everything this week.

Then off to Sears, and I'm set.

Good thread, and thanks for all the photos.
