Hey guys, I'm at work now and don't have a set of calipers here or at home. If someone has a few minutes could they run outside and check the OD of the downpipes just before they go into the Cats. This is for a 3FE. They are pretty small, but I'm not sure what size exactly.

Thanks, Michael.

ttt. :)

Not sure man but I have spent some time looking at these lately as I'm replacing them and the cats soon. I'm going to guess 2"

We don't have any smog tests or inspections here so I'm ripping off the cats and muffler. Then I'm just doing a single 2.5" straight pipe. But... I need to weld up a y-pipe that goes from the two downpipes into a single 2.5". Guess I'll just purchase some calipers unless someone can get a sure measurement... :). Looks smaller than 2" to me, but I'll try to figure it out. If anyone knows... throw it out please. :)

Let me know how that goes. I've already removed my EGR and air-pump, the cats are the last to go. I'll probably cheap out for now and just gut them. Who do you have doing the work?

They are definitely smaller than 2".

I'd say OD is roughly 1.5". I could run out and check, but it's really cold and snowing...

onewhippedpuppy- I'm just doing it myself. Cheap. :).

Lka- Yeah, it was cold here, but now everything is melting and soaked so that sucks. Oh well.

That makes sense. I've often wondered who I could find to do a catless exhaust system due to the, ahem, legalities of the situation.

Yeah, I've checked around quite a bit. Nobody will touch it. Most places I ask about that and valve adjustments on the old pushrod motor look at me like I'm a moron. So I'll just weld up a y-pipe and throw down some straight pipes.
