just did a trip from whistler to 2 hours east of saskatoon and was so happy with my 82 bj60. to all the people that helped me figure out my high rev problem (injectotor gov.) thanks worked like a charm. from ther went up north too vallyview , 43 highway is the longest strightest with the most hills i think i've ever seen, did some waleye fishing and just relaxed. and too say the lest, yea, i'd drive 500 miles from my house no prob. anytime :) :) :) :D :D :D

Only 500 miles!! I drove from Vancouver to Guatemala City last summer and I'm going to drive back up and all the way down again this summer! 410,000kM on the clock :) I'm NOT worried at all!

My HJ60 had like 485,000 klms on the clock when she was retired for a 1HZ. Well, she was rebuilt then sold for the 1HZ.

my 3b got me from san diego to peru. still got the rest of south america to explore and the drive back to san diego. Its still running like a champ.

I just got my 3b and I love it, seems like such a tuff truck, she has a few bugs I am working out but it runs like a dream and starts so easy. Can't wait to get some good tires and chains and see what she will go through this winter.

Gotta love the yota diesels, although I havin't herd much good about the 6's

I have great respect for the 3B engine and wouldn't part with either of mine unless they were no longer serviceable/repairable, etc.

Ditto, my 3B-H55F combo has grown on me like my old Harley did, without the expense. Leaving from a red light I get passed by just about everyone, but I'm up to cruising speed soon enough. A turbo would fix that problem, money is the only thing standing in the way of that project.

I'm getting 23-27mpg through the mountains, with lots of long climbs. My engine starts easily (almost on the first rotation) with just a slight puff out the pipe to let me know she's chilly.

I may have overfilled the H55F, and she's dripping the extra oil out 1 drop/day overnight, and getting her from 1st to second in the morning is tricky when it's cold.

not to hi-hjack, but hope the trip is going well! how are the brakes?

In 2nd gear I'm coming up a hill in town that features a hard right turn. The rpms drop below 2000 as I come into the turn. Pushing the acclerator down coming out of the turn and.... wow! The 3B low rpm pull is impressive.

Sounds like the temps are under control, good to hear you are well and still traveling.

Good luck.

3Bs rock, you gotta give them respect.

Gotta say that the 12HT is really awesome too! Can't forget the 6's!

Why I say this...

We were half way to northern Ontario from Vancouver for a family visit and road trip, when we got some bad news... my wifes father had died suddenly. Nothing to do but spin the wheel, and head back. 25 hours straight that day, Started from Calgary that AM, made it to Piapot Sask., and back to Vancouver... not a burp, not a hickup, nothing but solid reliability from my "high milage" JDM. I have not worked out what kinda milage I was getting on the road, but filled up yesterday after mixed driving... 400KM on the clock, and 49.8 litres to fill. Not too shabby.

Rob Milson had just done the valves, and an injector service, and I have to boast a little... he said it was one of the best running trucks he had worked on! 440 even across the board (brag brag... hehehe)... My love of these trucks GROWS DAILY!!!

Peace

END HIJACK

Drove to Artic circle in Alaska from Vancouver two summers ago.
Last summer drove to Ontario and Quebec from Vancouver.
Never had a problem!
My relatives in southern ontario who only know about fords, chevs and chryslers thought I would never make it. That was one reason to drive there, I thought I will show them! Have 412 000 kms.

Drove mine from Alberta to Ohio, loaded the truck up and drove to Belize. 7 Months later I drove her back to Ohio. The only issue I had was a leaking rear heater core that I obviously didn't need in Central America. I love my 3B/H55F!
