NEW PRICE
$1500for everything I have here for the engine combo. CANADIAN funds only. Paid by moneygram or western union.
$1800and I will include a t/case rebuild kit.
Included: engine, 5 speed tranny, 2 piece t/case, drive shafts, engine mounts (steel parts frame and engine), injection pump, injectors, edic motor and control, glow plugs, starter, alternator, shifters, etc. anything that is attached to the combo is included.
It came out of a truck with 550,000 Km (330,000 miles) on it. I do not know the history of the engine. I do know it was a one owner truck from new.
We did a compression test and the numbers are higher than 425 (480, 460 460, 490) which leads me to suspect serious carbon build up (or the head MIGHT have been replaced and shaved??). I would recommend pulling the head and doing a visual of the precups, the carbon and look for cracks in the head between the valves. The previous owner MIGHT have put a new head on at one point or he might not have. The rubber motor mounts are there but one is broken so needs replacement.
The tranny shift through the gears but I do not know if the 5th gear pops out or not. (Typical of the H55F).
The 2 piece t/case is stronger than the old style one piece with a much larger idler shaft. The t/case doesn't shift easily so a rebuild is necessary. All the parts are there.
Shifters are included but need cleaning up.
The metal engine mounts from the frame of the 70 series were cut off the frame and are included. They will need modifying to fit a 40 but at least you have an idea of what the location should be.
I have the tranny cross member and once again it will need modifying but you have something to work with. The rubber tranny mount looks fine.
The injection pump, injectors, sending units are included but the ECU wiring for the edic isn't. It was sold with the dash.
I would recommend a cable start and shut down.
I would recommend a manual glow system.
I can include the drive shafts if wanted.
It looks like a blob of rust; it needs tearing down and sand blasting. I am selling this combo to give the purchaser a base to build from.
Does it run? It ran for me to do the compression test. I ran it for all of 15 mins to bring it to operating temps.
I never drove the truck (the brake lines were shot so no brakes and the e/brake were seized).
I pushed a dead truck in the shop. Screwed around with it for a half hour to get it to run. The diesel that was in the truck smelled like kerosene. I used a fresh can of diesel and filled the fuel filter with sea foam. Cranked it over with fresh batteries.
It cranked smooth and fast so I suspect the starter is fine (although ugly on the outside).
The edic worked smooth so the ECU is working fine as is the edic motor.
All the lines came loose easily except #5 for bleeding the lines to start it.
It rattled when it started but smoothed out as the fresh diesel got through the lines so I suspect the injectors and pump are fine.
It seemed to rev fine although I suspect a valve adjustment is required.
I would suggest a new clutch package since the truck lived in a farmer’s field that last 3-5 years not running, not moving.
I think that is all I know and suspect about the combo.
If you want it, realize what you are getting, a combo to rebuild from. IF you install and drive it then that is your call. It does run.
My recommendation is to AT LEAST pull the head, new clutch and rebuild the t/case and check 5th gear hub.
Shipping extra and to be arranged by purchaser.
