Hi all,
Does anyone know where the engine number is on the 3B. I can't see it. Is it hidden behind something? the local bloke that does roadworthy's couldn't find the location in his books and doesn't ever remember seeing one in the past.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Which number are you asking about if you are looking for the 3B it is stamped on the head intake side,or are you asking about the casting numbers.
By the way post in the diesel section the gassers can't help you

The actual engine number that is stamped into a machined smooth part of the block. On a 1FZ-FE it is 1FZ followed by about 8 numbers.
The 3B may not have the 3B in front of the numbers.

I will have to look in the morning all I recall is the 3B stamped on the head but there may be a stamped machined surface on the block,
What do you need the numbers for

You need the number for the rego papers and roadworthy in Australia. This helps with identifying stolen/ written off vehicles and their parts

Good question. I would like to know the answer too.

My owner's manual shows the location for a 2F engine and an H engine but doesn't mention where it would be on a B, 2B or 3B engine:

EngineNumber.webp

But I would expect to find mine (for a B-engine) in the same place on the block as shown for the H engine (near the breather) - but no such luck. I can't find my number anywhere either. :frown:

- Yet I know what my engine number is because it is listed in my "new vehicle warranty booklet" (issued by Kalamunda Toyota in April 1980) and it appears on subsequent official documentation. (0294407)

And you'd expect such a number to be useful when ordering parts for your engine (to determine the manufacturing period - for example). But NO!!!! Engine Australia asked me for this casting number instead (to source the correct parts for my engine):
