So I would like some ideas about what others might do if there in my situation. I have a FJ62 that has had the engine swapped to a stock 350 TBI mated to a 700R4 tranny. The stock toyota transfer case and gearing have not been changed yet either. I use my cruiser mostly for daily driving and some towing and wheeling. Nothing super hard core tho. I have found myself wanting more power tho while towing and wheeling. I have thought about pulling the engine and having it beefed up to a 383 so that the electrical wiring and all could still work. Or else the other option would be to pull it all and swap in a 5.3L vortec and corresponding tranny.

I guess I'm just curious what your opinion is? What would the pro's and con's be?

All depends on your budget as you will be redoing a lot of work.
How "tuned up" is the TBI? Could be that it just needs a good old run through and good tuning to make her run a bit better.

6.0...from a 3/4 ton.

I'm with Elbert, if you're wanting more power than a 350 and thinking about a 5.3, should just get a 6.0. I have a 5.3 in my 55 and believe it will be plenty strong for towing, etc., but if power issues are on your mind, just find a 6.0.
