I've got a line on some good price swamper TSL radials, 36x12.50x16s
Anybody out there try 36" tires under J spring kits? I'm sure it would rub, but maybe still an "acceptable" amount? Or would spring spacers take it up enough to work? I'm trying not to get into major driveline mods, and avoid vibrations, which is why I don't want to go much more than the J springs...

Thanks.

You'd want to lower the bump stops to avoid rubbing for sure, or else do 1" spacers all around. But then you're really pushing the vibration envelope and may have to do a DC shaft. Is a new driveshaft a major driveline mod? 8 bolts...

Check TYLER's rig, I think he runs 36" Iroks.

I think I have a few threads on the newest mods that allowed the 36x13.5R16 IROK's. Slee and his shop made this latest evolution possible, so find the threads if you're interested, and see which parts of the recipe fit with your vision on your 80.

Thanks. I was planning on the 315s until these tires came up. A new DC driveshaft is an easy mod, sure, just didn't want to spend the $$ if I could help it right now. Trying to limit this round to lift, tires, gears.

Bump stops aren't too big a deal, which would definitely limit upward travel. Sounds like the OME lift is about an inch or so shy from comfortably running 36s, though. I don't mind a little rubbing, but if I'm going to have a little bit already with the 315s, there's my answer.

I'll probably stick with the 315s.

Thanks all.

i have J-springs with 30mm spacers and 315s and don't rub when articulating. I've thought about trying out some 36s, just to see what it changes.

I run J's with a 1.5" spacer up front with 35's and the only rubbing I get is something bump stops would fix. I've got castor plates and lower sway bars and I am a lucky SOB because I don't have any issues everyone else has... no driveline grrr, no relay rod rubbing on control arm(about 2" gap) and No vibrations except for crappy tires.
Don't ask me why but my rig sits higher than others that have J springs. Maybe because the heaviest thing in the wagon is myself.
With my setup I could easily fit 36's or 37's but the only reason I don't is because my 3FE and stock pumpkins would not pull them down the road.

You will probably want to regear if you go larger than 35

That IS a sweet looking truck. Thanks for posting pics. The 80s are such big trucks those 36s don't look out of place at all on it.
