35's under a SUA FJ 60

Another thing to consider is that you'll have to go with a high steer setup with a 6" spring ( if you can get one) We had the Belton factory send us a prototype that was nearly that tall and ended up with the tie rod wanting to run through the highly arched leafpack. Greg_b did all the monkeying in his BJ60 (das poovagon) and its finshed now but it took a lot of work and in the end would have been much easier to just do a SO on flat leafs.

exactly
it depends on what you want more... SUA or 35s...

Let me recount the ways...one day soon.

Waggoner5, The only problem i Have that started this whole thing here is that the springs are from a fj55 and the rear center pin is 1 1/2 inches off putting my rear axle too far back.
Peeper, yes they are 35's and no mods to any driveshafts.

nope. sorry man. each truck is a bit different but i am going to stand by my answer ans say they will not fit 100% without rubbing. i have a friend, fj60, 3" pinnacle springs, extended shackles and 1 or 2 add a leafs per spring and he STILL rubs with 35x12.5s and 3.5" backspacing. he has like 7" of lift.
...[/I]

aaahhhhh....i see the problem...pinnacle springs...and their lack of lift. check the arch on those pinnacles...i'll bet you they're not even 3" over worn stock springs. where exactly is he rubbing? on the outer edges, or inside of the tire?

i run 33x10.5s on 4" alcans, no other mods and i'm nowhere near to rubbing.

nuclearlemon, how do you like your alcan's ?

very much. ...they are a little soft in the front, but, after jto's crappy idea of fj60 springs, they are awesome...i will never suggest pinnacles to anyone when the same $ can get them springs made to handle the weight of a 60

oh his springs are a mess! they are al uneven and softy-loo already. he is rubbing in the same places i am, where the body meets the frame on the inner rear wheel well and on the front, lower lip of the front fender. REMOVE the bolt that is there holding the inner fenderwell or it will shred your tire.

i have the shackle reversal waiting to go on but have heard many many many mixed reviews when it comes to 60/62s... like notching the cross memeber, having to shorted the drive shaft... one person said there was so much lift he had to lengthen the drive shaft...

i wish there was a definative post on this.

hehehehe....made it easy to find me on the trail...thwup thwup thwup....

my pinnacles were less than a year old and looked worse than 40 year old stock 40 springs. JTO AND PINNACLE SUCK!!!!

i had less rub issues with my flat stockers than i did with my "3 inch" pinnacles.

nuclearlemon , I TOTALLY agree about JTO, the bad part is that they are not but about 2 hours from the house. Now i deal with TPI in TN. mostly.

peepers , I took and lowered that crossmember about 1 1/2 inch and have no problems with it now.

maybe you can post a pic when you have yours Alcan springs .. to see the arch.

cheers .. !

yes post back in this forum so we can see with the springs. my friend has 4.5" alcans on the rear of his 40 and shackle reversed up front and its sweet!

i knew you had to mess with the cross member.

nuclear - i have read your other posts... pinnacle and JT are on my "places to be egged" list

They should be here in about 3 weeks so I will post pic's of them as soon as I can.
Again thanks for all the help with this decision.

PS. If it comes down to it and I want to wheel this thing hard everyonce in awhile then i guess i can pull my 33 inch swampers from my 40 and go for it, if the 35's are too much. It's nice to have a few cruiser's.

we have run 35/12.5x15 bfg muddys for years with an OME 2.5"lift and 50mm body lift, with only minimal rubbing of the inner fenders on the rear. Also run Q78 swampers on 16x8"rims with 3.5"backspacing and no rubbing, a great tyre on the sixty'. will try to find a pic and post it soon!
