I just purchased a 1977 K10 GMC with a small block V8 and a SM465. I plan to transplant both to my FJ60. Any advice on engine location is much appreciated. I'm concerned about cooling as well as shifter locations. AA's LC instruction manual is more targeted towards 40's. This vehicle is and will always be a daily driver. My 40 is my off road rig. Has anyone got and easy way to hook up the factory AC. I have not seen any hardware for that.

Also I'll be parting out the rest of the K10 if anyone has a need for such parts. Dana 44's front and rear. NP205 transfer, Front fenders and hood are new on truck. Fiberglass toper good shape. Rest of truck is hit and miss. Email me at corbet-hoover@comcast.net if want parts.

I can't offer much to this post, but am possibly considering something close to this, hope some good adviceis posted as i will be keeping an eye on this post. Have you checked the tech section? saw to articles on that.

I am not familiar with the length of the 465 but with just about every conversion I have done on a 60-62, I have bolted everything up and set the transfercase on the rear crossmember where it belongs and then make my front motor mounts where they land. Keep in mind that the 2F is installed crooked somewhat, so the 350 fan will not line up with the factory shroud. I would put the engine in straight and make a shroud to fit the engine fan posistion. This is a little more work, but easier on the exhaust system routing and front driveshaft angles. This is only based on my opinion and the way I do things, so if the install is done different, it can still be done correctly.

Gday waggoner is that a pic of your 60s' engine bay? If so, that looks like a corvette LT1 to me, and a VERY tidy install by the way. Nice.

I was looking at that engine swap and looking at mine...man you have no wiring mess under that hood...Did you just tear all the old Toyota stuff out??? I wish my engine bay looked as good as yours :)

I routed all the wiring inside the fenderwells to keep the clutter out of the engine bay. All the Toyota stuff is still there . The engine was actually a LT1 Camaro motor with the Corvette covers. Too bad the little V8 didn't have the torque I wanted in my really heavy 62. Its gone now.

So what, dare I ask, adorns the engine bay these days? When your torque hungry monster was powered by the camaro engine, how did it go? How did it drive compared (offroad & onroad) to when it was powered by the 3f?

Dude...Wipple or Weiand!!!

Nice little add on for the money. Hehe.... :bounce:

I added 152 cubes. The 350 was obviously a huge improvement over the 3FE , but with 35s and 4.11s it didn't have the low end I was looking for. It would haul butt, but on a long grade I would still downshift, and that pi**ed me off. I looked at a diesel option but wasn't interested without an intercooler. I never found one that would fit in front of the rad. I am a diesel guy and maybe one day. Duramax?

Hey that 62 looks great but I posted this tread really looking for a little help on my swap. I'm now taking a very serious look at the Ranger Torque Splitter as the swap will be greatly simplified. Also I can save the SM465 for my 40 which really needs it more. I'm only going to run a stock 350/4bbl in the 60 so I'm not too concerned with the stock trans falling out the bottom.

I have read most on the previous posts regaring the Torque Ranger but most application were in 40's. Anyone here have one now? Would you do it again?

Sorry about the thread getting hijacked but I threw at you all the good stuff I had on your conversion.
