3-Piece Exhaust Manifold Question

Ricks Cyl Head service in Milwaukie does all mine, the set up the two end pieces in alignment with the intake where the bolts touch the face and tack the ears in place then machine them. This way the intake and exhaust gets equal torque when installed.

They sand blast and install the new riser and gaskets and helicoil as the intake strips often and also sand bast them both for a total of $70

Ship it to them, I bought the parts and had them dropped off and they assembled and took a few days.

Or call a Cyl head place in your area, call Toyota and ask the parts dept who they sublet to.

Thanks guys; getting lots of leads here! :)

I managed to get the intake/exhaust separated last night, and it looks as though the intake will need to be helicoiled. I did find where the big exhaust leak was coming from, though. The riser plate had split on the engine side (where you couldn't see it when everything was assembled), and there was a gap big enough to slide a good-sized paperclip through!

Shane,

It's starting to sound like Rick's is what I need here. Do I need to do anything in particular to the manifolds (like pre-assemble/torque to the head and then tighten up the intake/exhaust) before shipping this off? Is there anyone in particular I should talk to?

Thanks!

I'm not sure that NAPA in Albany has machining available. But, go across Santiam to Carquest. They have an in-house machine shop. I had them do my older one piece manifold set last year. You might also check out Virgil Hanson out on Commercial Way. I just recently had him help me I.D. a Chevy I-6 block using casting numbers. He has been around Albany for years and was very helpful to me. My impression of him is "old school". He also had some old Ford flathead motor parts in there when I was in there.

Handcannon,

I've heard Virgil is old-school. My neighbor's an old Bronco fanatic and he mentioned him as well. I'll check him out as well.
