I’m back!
I took 3 months off from rebuilding my cancer victim 71’ 40. I bought it dead in a parking lot for $550.
It was full of pots and pans with someone’s old ass carpet rolled up in it. It was last licensed in 92’. At the time, I was thrilled just to own one. I found a great guy, willinator, on mud to sell me a chevy 350 with a 4-speed and TK. I put it in and it was going great. I wanted to get it running to drive her over the winter. After putting it in, I did a detailed budget and realized I had spent $6,500 over the summer on her. This killed all my motivation. I was trying to get back into it but I knew if I touched her I would just keep adding to the budget. I finally gave in, after the 3 months, and was going to put all the rusty ass front fenders back on. I knew this was a bad idea because I would have never got it fixed right. It would have been a half-ass rebuild. I named her the other day “DEEP END”.
While searching the local ads I found some fenders a month ago. In great shape for a bill. I went to buy and the ad was gone. Just my luck. But thing changed I found a guy with a 68’ he was parting out and gave him a call. This was a score no cancer to speak of. I was just about to make an offer and he said you can have the whole cruiser for $300. DEAL!
I got a list of the score:
Tub and hard top ready for paint
Fenders, aprons, hood, and doors
Sweet full roll cage
F motor and 3-speed and tk
4” lift springs and shocks never installed
Basically everything else in boxes
Beefed up drive lines for lift
Bucket seats to fit roll cage

Missing-axels and frame is at a different location
The motivation is back to finish the DEEP END but it will be a while. Now that I have all this stuff I am going to do a frame off and replace every bolt. I feel to do thing the right way!
I will post the pix when I get all of it home. Still need to pick up the tub and frame.
