Anybody running a 2F in a early 40? I'm slowly putting mine together and the plastic fan of the '76 2F is about a 1/8" from hitting my brand new radiator. I actually had to trim the blades because they were touching the lower radiator tank.

It's too close for me, I'm afraid the first time I twist it up I'll munch the radiator. Is this the way it's supposed to be or did I mismatch a strange combination of parts again?

yep I got a 77 2f in a 67 fj45. I'm running a 2F fan clutch and plastic fan(forget how many blades, there are a few different fans blade types) but the fan is a good distance away from the radiator. I'll take some pics tonight and stare at a bit. I might be the water pump that is putting it too close to the rad.

Thanks, I'll take a picture of mine also. I thought I could lose the plastic fan and clutch, but I can't do that without changing out the water pump.

Jim -- you can always move the radiator forward a little... as I recall there is some extra space between the bid and the radiator. Pull the rad and the mounting bracket... then drill new holes in the mounts for the studs found in the bottom of the bracket and behold... no clearance issue. Generally a more cost effective route than replacing some of those other parts.

Yeah I'll try to sneak it forward a little bit, I'll have to wait until I get the nose back together. Right now I'm tight to the front of the slotted holes on the frame horns. After sticking in the struts to hold the radiator it turns out it's about 1/4". Still a little close for me.

Jim. Went an took some pics, I have more than 2" between the fan and radiator. Again 77 2f, 2F fan clutch, and the fan is a 7 blade. There is a different fan on some other year, I want to say a 74 fan is different, not sure however.

yes the fan shround is buggered up, it's PO mod and it's so flismsy that when I 1st got it and the 45 got twisted up the fan would hit the shround....

I think the best thing to do is look at the different water pumps as some are shorter, up to an inch

I have a replacement pump(in box) that is the same as the one on the 45, I think it's for a 76-79 without cooler. It;s the only pump that Toyota has discontined, had to go aftermarket.

Hope this help, but I can measure some stuff if you would like.
