SOLD, thanks ih8mud.

I have a complete (but disassembled and cataloged) 1985 2F engine with 150k on the engine and known to be a runner. We bought it last year as a father son project engine swap on a FJ60 of the same year (our cruiser had a spun bearing). Job change, kids sports, other life events stalled the project and we are moving the engine along. We planned to break it down, regasket/paint it and swap it into our 60. We sold the 60 early summer, time to move the engine along as well. Purchased from a trusted Cruiserhead, it's a good looking 2F.

We took pictures, sonic cleaned all hardware and parts as they came off, then individually bagged and logged everything! We did not disassemble the short block. Everything looked normal as we disassembled. Most emmission equipment is present and cataloged. The engine was steamed clean prior to disassembly. All this engine needs is new gaskets a fresh coat of paint and reassembly. If the new owner desires to break down the short block and rehone the cylinders or replace rings/bearings you could have a fresh 2F ready to go.

Looks like it'll make a great 2F for someone in need of a runner.

$1,200 obo

Located in Bozeman, MT.

Will NOT ship, please don't ask.

Should sell fast. A good cylinder head is worth more than you’re asking for the whole assembly.😉

If I could get it, I would buy it.

Ttt

I’m interested, blew my 2f up on my wedding day last summer. But I’m in Oregon, let me see if I can track down someone coming this way

I would go ahead and delete this post.

I had a friend change his weekend plans and arrange to drive from Wyoming to pick it up and this guy said it wouldn’t reach his truck (too high). So my friend offered to bring his flatbed and cash and it became ‘I don’t have a cherry picker right now’.

That friend canceled, so I made new arrangements with a friend that literally lives in Bozeman. He opened up his schedule, offered multiple truck options, and this guy says it’ll work then stops responding for days only to say he’s now out of town but he’ll probably just sell to someone local and not mess with loading it.

I literally offered someone local to come pick it up.

Might be a great motor, and this guy might be plenty busy. But to yank people around in multiple states after they’ve made plans multiple times to bend for his schedule is not what I expected out of the Mudd community. Bummed and back to looking for the right one

There are always two sides to a story fellas.

Engine is still available. Happy to work something out with folks but it has to work for all involved.

Do you know the birth month of the engine?

I have my 87 in pieces and have been slowly trying to get it together for quite some time. I really need a good clean crankshaft. I have a replacement but it needs a regrind.

It’s been a while since I’ve done this research, but maybe someone knows off the top of their head? Will the 85 engine drop into an 87 chassis and mount up to an H55F that was fitted to the original 87 2F?

Will the 87 water pump and other parts fit the 85?

I am strongly considering this engine and I’m in town.

all 2F's from 1981-1987 US spec are basically the same engine
the bellhousing will bolt to any F or 2F block
