275/70/18 spare tire question

I traded in my 2013 LC for a 2018 a few days ago (felt guilty, but I'm glad I did it) and immediately put 275/70/18 BFG KO2s on my factory wheels. I go to Discount Tire to get all 4 tires + 1 for the full size spare. The tech comes out and says that the larger tire won't fit, so I'm like "ah well, just get the 4 tires then."

I'm browsing through the forums today, and when reading through the auxiliary fuel tank thread, am seeing that people have 285/70/18s on their LC AND on their full size spare underneath the vehicle. Was my guy giving me bad info? If so, I need to get back there and get the 5th tire for my spare.

It fits. They probably couldn’t figure out how to drop the spare

I dropped the spare myself and just had them mount the tire. They’d screw it up somehow anyway.

Truth be told, I couldn't figure out how to either until I read the manual, so I hope that was the case. I just called the shop and will be headed back there in a few hours. For the sake of being thorough, no modification was needed to make everything fit?

285/70/18 spare here and even the dealer is able to fit it in no problem. It’s very tight but it works.

It fits. I have same tire size as spare mounted.

I got it done. The initial guy either eyeballed it and said no or didn't bother to try. Thanks again!
