Hi I was just wanting some opinions before I made a purchase. I am looking to add some longfield or "other brand" birfs to my cruiser. I just did a 4-link and 14" coilovers in the rear. I am also adding some 1.5" wheel spacers to my rig with 35 x 12.5 swampers, and lockers. My knuckles started to leak so I need to change the seals any way. I have never broken a birf, but now I am running an orion t.c., add the 1.5" spacers to that, I have too beef it up. My stock parts are still good, it would be nice to have the spare parts. So here lies my query, should I go with the 27 spline longs alone, should I go with the full 27 spline chromo axles on top of that? That way my stock parts will work in case of an emergency. Or should I go with the 30 spline chromo birfs and inner axles? I have never used any of these aftermarket components. It is hard to think I would break even just some longfields alone on the stock inner axles. I want to do it right, but I need to balance the cost of it all. I still need to build myself a better rear driveline, set up some limiting straps, and add in some air bump stops. Of coarse that is just for starters, and what lies ahead in the near future. What about other brands other than longfield, Trail Gear...ect? Any opinions on this matter would mean alot to me, I appreciate the help. thanks

I've never broken a Birf either. But with a doubler and 35s on a Pig, I knew it would happen someday. I went with the 30 spline SuperSet...wasn't that much more coin for the extra splines and I'd prefer to overbuild than under.

Your last question...other brands other than Longfield? No. Trailgear? Don't go there.

If money is no object, or you really hate breaking things go big and forget it. The down side would be that it will find the next weakest link in your drivetrain, don't forget the hub gears too.

30 spline longs and dont look back.Just an example of the level of customer service,I broke a thirty spline after 3 years of hard use.Bobby told me to pull the other side and send it back with the broken one since they had made upgrades from the time I bought mine.No charge:cool:
