265 with a good load rating should be just fine. Keep in mind, many 1-ton trucks and vans run 255 or smaller.
They do.. but they aren’t expected to go the places off-road that a cruiser will. More ground pressure leading to marginally more issues in soft terrain would be my concern if the truck is used like that. Key word marginal.. I’m not saying they’ll be worthless.

Otherwise, I agree. This width should work fine on road, and maybe even work better in rain.

So, by reading your post, i assume that i should really air down over soft terrain to make up for narrow width?

Fantastic!!! Any rubbing on KDSS bar???
This is my GX460, the KDSS is in different location. Just wanted to show you what that size tire looked like on a 9" rim. BTW plenty of people run 275/70/18 with no issues on stock suspension, so I don't believe the 265/70/18 will rub.

These are the tires I am considering in this size. Michelin LTX Trail looks OK on paper…treadwear rating kinda suck, temp/traction rating BB, and the tread width is pretty darn narrow. But, the looks and weight (37 lbs) are its pluses.

Does 32.6” tire fit in the spare tire compartment?

I ran 275’s for 5 summers and do a lot of off-roading on very soft sand and glacier silt. I run 265’s in the winter. I notice no performance difference at all with the 285 I’m on now. But I air down every time. You should air down in many off road scenarios regardless of width 255 or 295.

On my LT 285/70-17’s (c rated) I run 36 psi on road, 28-30 when I go up the Dalton highway. 25-28 for general off road, and 20 (and lower) for soft sand.

For the spare You may have to adjust the tire bumper but it will fit just fine.

I currently run 285/70/18 but going to a 275/70/18 next, many more options with less aggressive tread in this size.

Current spare tire is 285/70/18??
Yea unfortunately, which sucks because it was never rotated in with the rest of the tires. I will just sell it since it’s a never used RG

Did it fit under there without any mod To the spare tire compartment?

Yes, fit without issue. I’ve had 295/70/18 under my previous 200 and just needed to remove a little metal bracket. It was snug as a bug.
