FJ25 from E-bay

I did buy a 1959 recently but it was carried by Toyota into 1961 when they finally wholesaled it so it was titled as a 1961. My title from New Mexico shows it to be a 1961 even though it has a 1959 serial number. I have not yet taken any pictures but you can look it up on E-bay by putting in this auction number and there you can find some fairly good pictures of it: 270220997070

I have just finished arranging for it to be shipped East. At first I was thinking about having it sent to a Land Cruiser specialist and having some work done on it but several of the FJ25 group talked me out of that. So, I am sending it to our family farm in Ohio and will be doing some of the work myself.

Jim helped me understand that I need to find a split hood. Mike in CT helped me by sending me a list of things that are not original on it. Steve in GA helped my by explaining what I needed to do to rebuild the wheel cylinders. I also need a hood insignia, spare tire mount and rear seats for the 25 that I know of now.

Actually I have not even seen this vehicle myself yet, but I did talk to the man who previously owned it five different times including a conversation I had with this him just this morning. He was the third owner and he bought it in 1999. I think it has rolled over at least once so it has a minimum of 145,000 on it. I will probably not see it until late April or early May. Promise I will take a lot of pictures as I will, no doubt, need a lot of help finding all the original pieces it is missing. Hope to restore the body at some point but not necessarily the engine. Still not sure how far I will go with this. God willing I will probably make a gift of it to my son when he finally gets home from the Army.

In the mean time, please check out the pictures while the E-bay auction is still posted and please send me all the advice you can about it and especially let me know where I can find any of the missing OEM pieces I need to restore it. Anyone know what the original color pallet was for 1959? And thanks for all the help I have already gotten! Rick
