The voltage regulator on my '87 HJ61 failed, so I ordered a replacement from down under. Unfortunately it seems like the Aussie models have different wiring. The electrical plug clips in to my harness, but the order of the pins is different so the regulator does not work. With the Jaylec regulator the alternator backfed into the ignition.
I changed around the pins to match the color order of my original regulator, but I'm still not getting proper voltage regulation. And the alternator warning light does not come on with my key in the "on" position, so I know that pin is also incorrect.
Any thoughts how I can determine the correct pin order? There are only 6 pins, and I'm pretty sure the black ground pin is in correct so that just leaves 5 pins to solve
