Morning team, I have a quick question, did some searchin already. I kind of have a feeling of what needs to happen but I'm gonna ask anyway. My AC compressor has an internal leak. I would like to buy a replacement, but 24v compressors are nowhere to be found. Was thinking about buying a 12v replacement out of Australia or whatever for my 2H and then swapping the clutches. My clutch is working fine.
Am I correct to assume that only the clutch is the only part where voltage is critical?

Your assumption is correct, clutch is the only difference. Do you have a 12V source on your vehicle at all that you could switch for the clutch (if a swap wasnt straight forward)

I do! Great idea. I have a stand alone 12v system in my truck for stereo and such. I have 6 spaces in my fuse box. But how the hell do I wire that? I don't want a manual switch. This truck had one that bypassed the amplifier. I was only able to figure out how to restore proper function after dismantling the wiring harness and following the wires. It works as intended, with clutch engagement every so many seconds a d such, but testing the system I found that the compressor is on the way out. Bummer. I think I'll try to swap clutches first. I'll order a compressor, just gotta see where from.

But how the hell do I wire that?

The 24V clutch signal wire can switch a relay instead, which provides the 12V signal for the new compressor - if the clutch cant be swapped.

Pffft, makes perfect sense, the signal wire that turns on the clutch can activate the 12v circuit, just as you'd mentioned. I never thought if that.
That's why I like this forum.
Brilliant.
