I have been trying to find this very small oil leak on my 22re for about a month now. It is a rebuilt 22re, it has 38,000 on rebuild. It seems to be coming from next to the power steering pump. That is where most of the buildup was. And somehow is getting splashed over to the battery area. I have replaced valve cover gasket, 2 half moons, grommets, I also replaced pcv valve thinking it could have been blow-by coming from somewhere. I plan to replace the distributer o ring. I checked the power steering fluid for the first time in about 5 months and it was bone dry but it wasn't hard to steer, nor was it making any weird sounds. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Front main seal possibly. You make have redone it but did you put a new sleeve on the crankshaft so it's not using the same grove? And it'd fling around because its leak into the fan.

I know for a fact it is not the front main. Although that was my first suspect along with valve cover. The oil pump housing was brand new not rebuilt. I also replaced the front main after the motor had 15k on it because I put a new crank pully on and decided to put a toyota main seal in there. I don't know why so don't ask lol. I know the oil pan gasket leaks, so maybe that's where my little oil lossage is. I think my power steering pump is what is leaking and getting thrown all over the place. Where does the steering pump usually leak from? Is it hard to rebuild or would I be better off finding a different one that doesn't leake?

Not hard to rebuild, I did one on a trail in -5 degree winds one day. A few bolts and a c-clip with some press fit bearings.

Thank you. How much does a rebuild kit run usually? Should I get one from an auto parts store? Where would you recommend? Also, is it possible this is my issue? I will probably remove som parts tomarrow to get a better look.

I think rockauto has the best price.

I have zero idea as I don't have the vehicle in front of me. I would check your PS fluid and see if it is going low.

It's not hard to rebuild a PS pump, the FSM has the procedure. Be careful to not lose any of the tiny vanes inside on the impeller. I would only go OEM on the rebuild kit, call beno or Sam and order it up. The kit doesn't include a bearing, get that too.

Hose everything on the engine down with brake cleaner, get it clean, then take it for a ride and look for fresh fluid. Check the low pressure supply hose that comes off the PS reservoir, it often leaks right at the pump.

can u give me a name for the website or do they not have one? Thank you
