has anybody built a 22r on propane and turboed? thinking it might be a good swap for my lj. what compression ratio would you build the engine to if you were gonna turbo it. what cam would be the best? im thinking old school 22r with 20r head and 22r valves, decent cam and 050 over pistons, t3/t4 turbo . maybe 150-160 hp. will the 22r bolt directly to my tranny/ engine mounts? not sure if this is a good idea or not? feedback would be cool, thanks:D:steer:

A buddy of mine had a minitruck on propane and turboed. Went like stink!!! He just sold his propane setup a couple months ago and there is info out there on setup. Try "shadbolt cams" in Vancouver, they make a nice lumpy cam for the 22R's, put one in my RE last year.
Cheers!

i pick up the 22r on sunday. then the work begins. as finances allow. will prolly take a while. trying to figure out compression ration to build to. on gas i read that you have to use low compression piston, and crank boost till its good. propane at 105 octane, maybe 10 or 11:1 ??? can,t find much info on the subject. seems everyone thinks propane is only good for bbq and injection for diesels.

swapping to propane injection on a gasser has been around for decades
you get the benefit of fuel injection without all the electrical BS.
