I'm assuming this is my power steering pump protesting? http://youtu.be/uQY-UYEYkO8

If you mean the brief howling when first started, that sounded like a cold, dry bearing. If you mean the "tapping" sound as you walked around the front of the truck, check MUD for a recording of the cracked exhaust manifold. You can tell if it's the power steering pump by opening the hood and listening to and feeling the pump directly.

I wouldn't worry about it, nothing sound abnormal to me for this type of teperature. We had -48 Celcius (-54 Fahrenheit) weather last week here in Alberta and my Taco was making all kinds of weird noises when I started it. I plug the block heater every night and let the engine warm up before hitting the road.

The howling noise when I first start it was more my worry. I'm familiar with the manifold ticking.

Are you seriously wearing a short sleeved t-shirt in that weather?

Mine makes the same noise on very cold starts, but for way longer than yours.

Love Grayling, MI. I have spend some time at a friend's cabin on the Au Sable River.

I wouldn't worry about it either. I've heard a lot worse from a cold start (especially in my 4Runner, from new). -54 below? Not a problem with the right heaters but everything unheated (front hubs, wheel bearings, rear end, blower motor) but will make some weird noises before they warm up and get properly lubed up.

Tell me what holding the key in the AC position did. It's not a diesel.

Thanks for the reminder. Just before starting the truck I realized my blower fans were on high. Wanted to turn them off before starting so viewers could hear the noise instead of just blower fans.

Look carefully at the temp photo I took. It's not -22 windchill. That's actual temp. We love Grayling too. Spent many a day on the Au Sable river ourselves. Leaving today but have enjoyed a week vacation here immensely.

dudes hair is frozen

Chuckle. Like someone said earlier, I was in a warm house, it was sunny outside and I literally ran out to take the video/audio clip and went back inside. Bundling up for a 2.5 second excursion outside wasn't worth it. Anyway, when the temps warm up a little the noise disappears so I'm attributing it to the extreme cold. When I drive, for the first few minutes the transfer case whines like a baby too. I have synthetic fluid in there but when it's cold it hates me.

My mistake. Truly. It is the Trupoint thing to the right of the temperature coupled with the stated High 25/Low 15 that brought this into question. After the Weather Channel started naming bloody winter storms, I stopped watching and using the app.

I concur wholeheartedly. I think they name the storms to be more sensational. It's quite annoying how the weather channel is so focused on the shock factor anymore.
