So - I'm in negotiation with the owner of a 2004 GX that has 208K on it. In good condition overall, with almost new Michelins, recent fluids, alternator & serpentine belt. Everything seems to work except the driver's door switch for the rear driver's side window does not roll up and down. Leather upholstery has some wear but overall is very liveable. Paint on the hood is really bad, but otherwise OK. 2nd owner thinks the previous owner had some damage on the hood and had it re-sprayed, not holding up as well. No real rust anywhere underneath, (CA vehicle since new that has seen some Tahoe trips, etc...) and no major door dings even. Some nicks in the paint is all. My real question is, the belt was changed at 187K and that was almost 6 years ago. The car has a 2-mile each way commute to work and a couple of family trips each year the last 6 years. With only 21K on this belt, over that time would it be worth replacing or should it still be good for a while. NorCal car that doesn't see temp extremes except maybe a trip to Tahoe or two in the winter. I'd like to hear what the collective thoughts are from you experienced folks!

If the timing belt was oem, then I wouldn’t worry about this timing belt that’s 6 years old with 21k miles in mild Cali weather.

Drive it like you stole it and replace at 10 years or 100k. Or if you are in there replacing a seeping water pump, then replace timing belt

FYI if the truck has only visited the California side of Tahoe most likely no salt issues. Ca uses sand on the ice but Nevada does use a salt sand mix.
