21 LC200 - Touchscreen/Physical Buttons Not Working

Hi -

2021 LC200. Beat Sonic installed for wireless Carplay. Has worked perfectly since it was installed.

Today, the screen is unresponsive and the large buttons (right below the touchscreen....Home/Info/etc.) are unresponsive as well. Also, the thin horizontal digital display below the screen (that normally shows driver/passenger temp and outside temp) is blank for those data points. What is odd is that the underlying functions all work. What I mean by that is that I can control the screen through the steering wheel controls, my phone is syncing to Bluetooth and it is playing music, and I can control the temp through the physical buttons down lower.

I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it did nothing. I did not pull any fuses. No water damage or other incident.

Any experience or insights would be appreciated.

This makes me nervous. Just installed the Beatsonic wireless unit yesterday in my 2020 HE. So far it has been working fine and no flaws, but installation was a bitch. I would not be looking forward pulling all that apart again. You might have not fully plugged or loosely plugged some of the connections in the back of the screen/radio. Did you talk to Eric at Beatsonic? He is pretty responsive.

So I pulled out the beat sonic system. I assumed it was a head unit problem and not beat sonic, but it turns out it was the aftermarket unit because everything is working well again. I don’t think it was a loose connection as I did check those. Eric was responsive so sending it back to them for replacement. Honestly, pulling it only took 30 minutes. So i will give beat sonic another try because it was working great.

So i will give beat sonic another try because it was working great.

That is good. Yes, they have a great customer service. Man, 30mins? It took me 3:30hs to install all of it from start to finish. All the cable routing was incredibly painful, and I took at least 3 cuts to my fingers from the brackets inside the dash. Granted I am not too handy with these installation tasks, so maybe it is just me. Did he say what could have caused it? For how long did the unit work before causing issues? I will use that as a benchmark to gauge when I am out of the woods.

This is exactly why I ended up going with EC-offroad. The beatsonic is a nice product and seriously considered going that route but they had many issues in the past. I hope the next one works perfectly for you.

30 minutes to remove! Probably 2-3 hours to install. A lot easier to just pull those wires than try to thread them through. Worked great for 6-8 months.

Is the installation a pain too? I assume it is since all oh them need to connect to the radio/screen behind the dash.

Ah...that is more in line with my experience. Wow, 8 months later? Good to know they stand behind their product even after almost a year later. I can't remember if they have a 1-year warranty though.

I don’t think so but I am having a a pro install it just to be safe.
