Noticed the bottom one leaking around the clamps. Since no history of them ever being changed I did it. Bought the 08 LC couple of months ago with full service since new. Even the radiator lasted to 199k. They looked ok but the one that had the leak showed some corrosion on it. My 05 LX pretty much fell apart when I took the clamps off at 144k. Those showed no leaks. New one is on the bottom for reference in the 1st pic.

Could someone explain these heater tees? What they do, where they are etc.
Just bought a 2009 with 185k and plan on doing the mtc myself.

How much coolant did you lose when doing this job?

Very little/minimum really. I drove up on ramps. Turned the heat on blast to bleed. Didn't have to add anything. Couple hours later still between the full and low mark.

I'm guessing they supply coolant through the heater core? That seems to be where the hoses attach too on the fire wall. They tend to deteriorate and break with age. Search up on them. Definitely a preventative job to do.

They are installed on cruisers with rear climate control to divert coolant to the heater core back there. Located on the rear of the engine bay on the passenger side. On 100-series cruisers they were known to fail spectacularly so they made it onto the radar of 200-series owners. Ours seem much more robust than in the earlier trucks but still a good idea to replace at high mileage.
