This one (in Columbia TN) has an interesting story as it is supposedly a “prototype” according to the dealer—previously titled to Toyota corporate in Plano TX for displays, etc.

I am not knowledgeable enough to discern being new to LCs, but it has a cool box.

Either it’s a really good fake HE, or a rare bird.

This is probably just some dealer vehicle that modded the vehicle and added HE parts. Leather looks to be semi-aniline of regular LC.

No third row but no obvious mounting holes, black headliner with black seats… if it’s fake they spent some serious money making it so.

Deviated stitching, no door moulding, no 3rd row mount points visible--I'm inclined to believe the story that it was an early prototype/press vehicle/mule (especially if Toyota is listed on title as previous owner). That is a pretty neat vehicle regardless with the blacked out aesthetics and a cool box.

As a HE owner, if fake—I appreciate that someone went through the effort to pull this off.

If real, very cool.

I’m looking at adding a nice “stock” HE to the family stable as my current HE is modded, which is how I bumbled across this.

Unfortunately it’s black.

I'm no expert, but looking at the early service records for this vehicle, I found the following:

I don't know what significance "Mock up" and "Prototype" have, but my gut tells me this vehicle did not leave the factory as a Heritage Edition. Still could be a legit Toyota prototype vehicle - still interesting.

FYI, HTH

Provenance or it didn't happen. Anyone can throw a set of bbs rims and badges on a base land cruiser and make it a "prototype". Own a dealership, and have the service advisor put whatever they want in the comments. But I am naturally a pessimist. Might be a cool unique buy for someone.

(if you don't post the VIN, a thread like this loses its value once it falls off the front page)
