did the 2016 LC come with automatic rear tailgate? I was at the dealer the other day and noticed the 2018 LC had the push button open and close rear tailgate. Was this an added feature for 2018? Also what if any options were added to the 2018 model compared to 2016?

2018 added the power rear hatch and the Optional rear entertainment screens.

Small potatoes but 2018 gets a new slightly nicer key fob as well. I think maybe auto power folding mirrors came in too but maybe that was 2016?

Yes my 18' came with power rear hatch.
I also was able to skip the rear tv screens for 18.

My mirrors do auto fold which I am not wild about, I need to look up how to turn that off. Not sure if that was new for 18 or not.

Power fold button is by your left knee

Any other added options to 2018?

I believe the 18 lost the rear side curtain deactivation in favor of the auto folding mirrors.

Just exchanged my lc200 16 for a new 18.
18 has auto fold mirrors when you lock the car from the fob.
No remote start on 18
No rear screens on 18
The graphics on the backup camera are different on 18
The rear hatch is atomated and can be opened by button from drivers dash, or remotely w key fob. Closes the same way. The auto hatch can also be disabled so you may operate it manually. The rear tail gate has a gentle close function. Just close the gate slowly and at some point the car closes it the rest of the way.

Likewise - same features on my 08 LX. Sad thing is it's taken a decade for the LC to get some of the features that were standard on the Lexus version from the beginning.

I’ve had both I think the Land Cruiser is for people that want to modify and the Suspension is easy to modify for everybody else the Lexus IS a better value but not everybody else wants AHC and the other added luxuries let alone the free cookies and now food breakfast and lunch you get at the Lexus dealer when you stop by :)

To be honest I just wanted to avoid the appearance of driving an 85k truck which is all but impossible with the LX redesign. It use to be I had the fancy car and my wife would keep a toyota, this way we always had one for situations where showing up in a porsche or bmw was not ideal...Now I let her drive the nice stuff and I keep the toyotas around here lol

If you’re afraid for your safety just pack some heat ;)

My 18 has remote start, although it is not always easy to get to work.

Haha where I live it takes 18 months to get a cc. Ask me how I know...

Not concerned about that though. More about other peoples perceptions as a self employed person. Not a big deal.

I think there is some truth to the LC being able to play the role of an ordinary vehicle in the eyes of the masses. I know I have been asked many times how I like my highlander or Sequoia . Lol

I am in the wholesale business where I sell products to blue collar hard working contractors. Rolling into the office in a blinged out Escalade or LX, would not really leave the best of impressions for me with my customers.

The LCs have always allowed me to drive a very reliable truly first class vehicle, without drawing too much unwanted attention.

I drive a bloated gas guzzler to a college campus every day, but I teach classes about sustainability and responsible energy management (for buildings). I'm sure it would not help if it was a tarted up 1%'er luxury barge at the same time.

No regrets that I went with the LC.
