Hi All

I was the proud owner of a 2008 cruiser up until a couple of months ago and just today bought a 2017 version!

One thing I’ve noticed on the 2016+ refresh (possibly on the 2013+ refresh too) is that the semi analine leather seats look and feel quite delicate. My 2008 had really thick and durable leather seats. But the new seats seem way to delicate. Has anyone had any issues with the leather on their 2016+ cruiser? I looked at a 2016 just yesterday that had 29k on the clock and the leather in the front drivers seat almost looked like it was peeling off already - almost as if the very top layer was starting to chip away like damaged paint. I’m a bit concerned that my new 2017 will run into this also after 20-30k miles.

Would be good to get some input from owners or folks in the know whether these new leather seats will hold up, any recommendations to preserve them etc?

Thnx!

Rich.

I had Equipt canvas seat covers installed on mine shortly after I bought it new because I almost had the same concern. 15000 miles later and my driver seat still looks brand new.

Could you tell me the exact company name or point me to there website? I couldn't find it from a quick search of "Equipt canvas"

thanks!

Rich

Do those fancy cooled seats still work through the canvas covers?

I also installed Escape Gear covers purchased from Equipt. The heated/cooled seats still work through the canvas but I think they reduce the performance by 10-20%.

I've had the covers off since cleaning the truck up after the last trip and like the change of pace. They'll definitely be going back on, though, because I had the same thought about the leather being a little dainty.

Yep. Cool air and heat works perfect. It is also washable and has some sort of water repellent so it doesn’t get wet easy. Best investment you can make to protect your interior especially if you have kids ;)

2 years and 27000 miles in with no seat covers and lots of in-out with a variety of heavy work clothes and the Terra seats look great on my '17. I use Lexol products spring and fall.

The rear seats are completely covered with towels and a Weathertech full cover because that's where the dogs ride. 3rd row is out of the vehicle in the basement, so I'll always have a comparison "control" for the experiment ;)
