2015 LC200- HVAC buttons not functioning--urgent, traveling (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

My HVAC buttons on the nav screen, temp up and down buttons on the dash on either side of the nav, and buttons located horizontally below the nav screen are all dead. The Nav screen sections all beep when as normal when touched, but do not change.

Note the HVAC system is set on recirculation, I checked the fresh air filter and all is situated perfectly. There has been no recent change with the fresh air filter. On inspection, all is good there. My battery is just over a year old and seems to be starting and operating fine with no hesitation. There are no other signs of problems. Suggestions on where to look first? Thanks in advance.

Try resetting it. Disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes.

I just did this and the HVAC system reset, but still no change, though now the HVAC
temperature settings are no longer shown in the upper dash.

I could drive some and see if the HVAC system comes online. I recall that in a similar situation of disconnecting the battery, that my FJ Cruiser HVAC system would be dead for about five or ten minutes, then after a restart would be fully functional. Initially I had not disconnected the battery on the LC200.

Temporary workaround-hit the voice command button on the steering wheel and say "cooler" or "warmer".

In Albuquerque, I took my Land Crusier to RNS Auto an independent mechanic highly recommended by Toyota Land Cruiser folks. The owner/manager checked it all out in the parking lot--fuses were fine, heater, fan, and air conditioning could all be run off his computer while the computer was plugged in. He suggested the nav head unit was bad, but then I mentioned that every other system on the head unit was operating perfectly.

He disconnected the positive lead off the battery, put a jumper between the positive connector and the negative side and let this stand for about five minutes. This drained the capacitors completely zeroing out all power in the truck. He connected the positive lead back on the battery, started the truck and all systems were go. Everything was back to normal. He mentioned that many folks would replace the head unit almost automatically and continued saying that these computers were not much different than a smart phone meaning that it was good to reboot them periodically and if something like this occurs do this first. I had disconnected the battery earlier, but had not run a short from the positive to negative wires while disconnected--disconnecting the battery was not a full reboot.

He asked for $20 beer money for his mechanics when I asked what I owed him for his time.

We are our way. I wanted to bring this to the group as a heads-up.

Cool trick.

Was afraid to do this as I read somewhere that doing this might also delete the car keys from the car's memory and might have to re-program it again.

I did this test:
Turn off the car.
Press and hold both the "fresh air/recirc" button and "auto/ac compressor on" button together, and turn the ignition on. let the system run a full test.

My issue was ac not working only on the driver-side vents but all other vents are fine,
this test showed diagnosis 43 and 86. figuring out what to do next.
