I have a 15 LC200 with a mild but annoying dash rattle. More of a plastic creaking noise coming from what seems like the entire center dash area including the front vents. Lots of plastic touching there. Not really loud but still annoying. Anyone else have this?

I also noticed it coming from dash the other day. It was heard on a poorly paved road. Otherwise I don't hear it.

I get it even on the highway. The joints on a concrete highway, the small jarring bumps. Wonder if I could pull it apart and use a little felt tape where the panels meet.

I listened while driving my 2008 after reading this... Heard nothing from the dash on the highway... Wonder what the difference is...?

It could coming from glove box and stuff stored in glove box. Try emptying and drive on same section with glove box open and closed. Also check there is nothing stored in door pockets. Just a thought.

Yep it's all the plastic on plastic on the center stack and the speaker grill on the top of the dash.

I actually ripped my dash apart to put in a dvd and navigation override unit from Prestigious society, When I did that I put felt all over the plastic trim peices and presto no more noise..

Yeah dumb design in my book but no more rattling and squeaking from the dash. After my ghetto ass fix lol. You really can't notice the felt unless you look super close

By the way dvd override is the best upgrade lol

It's definitely the center dash section because just pushing on it causes a mild creaking noise exactly like the rattle.

Truth be told I actually work for a Toyota dealership. I have one tech that I specifically have work on my stuff because he's so particular. Diagnosing rattles and fixing them without creating more is such a pain that I actually feel bad scheduling it.

Figured I would throw it out here first before torturing this guy first. He's a good tech. I had a Sequoia before my LC. The Sequoia developed an oil leak between the cam housing and head. He did the warranty work for me. Had the whole thing wrapped in blankets and lost almost 10 hours in flat rate time to make it better than new. Hard to find people like that.

Felt tape, if applied liberally and correctly, will solve all your rattling issues.

Are you referring to an override of the annoying "Safey" feature of disabling controls until you're in Park?
If so...I'd love to hear more about what part you ordered, and how tricky/easy it was to install. Thanks!

Here is a hyper link. it is now 229... install seems intimidating but just go to harbor freight buy an auto trim tool kit and should take about 4 hours or so to do not bad at all.

Pretty slick if you have a 13+ you just click the volume button minus minus plus plus. And presto you can watch dvd on the front screen and also input gps as well

Wow. That's a lot more involved that I expected.
On my Subaru... All it took was a $20 circuit that basically tricked the unit into thinking it was in park.

At this point, I think I'll skip it, as I don't rely on the GPS, and can just slap an iPad on the dash if I want video.

But for me...the more annoying part is not being able to adjust a number of other settings while on the highway. Seems like safety over-kill.

Thank you for the link. I might do it at some point...

Yeah you can do a trick switch easy enough. There is a contact connection to the parking brake that you can honestly override moving some wires.

I did it this way because it's a little cleaner

I may have fixed it yesterday! Much better now. I pulled the center speaker cover, both center vents and the radio display. The rear of the display is covered in an aluminum "cage" to cover the electronics. Just barely tapping the cage caused a noticeable rattle from the lowest portion, directly behind the 4 way flasher button. I tightened that up and put it back together. After a run on the highway last night it seems much better. There is still a little noise when hitting bumps but I think I'm just overly sensitive to rattles at this point. Wish I would have taken photos now...

I have a thread somewhere about my dash squeak/rattle.
I went nuts and it ended up being an exterior rubber molding on the windshield. Lower corner near fender. Lubed it with dry graphite. Squeak gone.

I recently picked up a 2013 LC in the Boston area (CPO from a dealer). Over the bumpy roads here, there's a noticeable squeak / rattle from either end of the glove box hinge. Anyone have a suggestion as to how I might deal with it?

I have the same issue. Comes and goes. I almost think it's related to the temperature. Sometimes it annoys me, sometimes it doesn't. I have no desire to start disassembling, I would probably just make it worse. My 01' 4Runner LTD did the same thing.

Have some of you considered it might be the lower center edge of the windshield? I thought it was my dash as well and finally figured it out by having my wife drive while I pinpoint it from the passenger seat. It squeaks when the temp is under 45f and going over anything that isn't perfectly smooth. She doesn't even notice it. I will try some graphite spray on the outside area "very carefully"...messy stuff and it stains.
