I bought my ‘14 GX late ‘22 - remote start worked with both remotes flawlessly.

One of my fobs needed a new battery around November, the vehicle stopped remote starting once I noticed the low battery message popping off.
So I replaced both key fobs batteries.

Remote start still not working with either fob. The vehicle will flash the lights like it wants to remote start but then does nothing.

Do all the other functions work? E.g.: lock/unlock?

Yep, this. Remote start along with other functions have been permanently disabled.
But isn't that just for certain model years? My 2010 will work sometimes so I don't think it's affected.

2010-2015 models with Remote start use vehicle hardware callled RES (local factory remote start)... there was a rare RES+ with 3G capability but that should still work after 3G shutdown.. If you have that an odd little antenna will be on upper right area of windshield.

Enform Remote affected GX 460 models are 2016-2018 model years... outside of those model years are not affected

Lock and unlock work via remote buttons and the proximity door handles. Though I did notice as the fob batteries lost their juice the “alarm” tone that plays as the alarm is turned on has failed to chime most times during lock and unlock.

So 14 should have RES hardware, thus work after this 3G Shutdown that occurred late '22? Or only IF you have the RES with 3G would it work afterwards?

RES or RES+ (2010-2015 (if equipped) should still be working for short distance starts with FOB.

Both versions were never standard and were dealer/port installed options

US RES cannot be retrofitted into 460s from Canada... it was attempted and failed....also never available there as an option I am told

I dunno. It's a bummer that it's happened during winter.
The truck does go through the motions of flashing the lights like it would before starting the engine but then the engine just never starts.
Few results here and CL when I searched... Did see mention of possibility of a remote started ECU kinda thing that could go bad. IF, however, it were that, would the lights flash and everything?

I am concerned that the truck doesn't make that alarm 'chirp' anymore when locking, regardless of method used to lock. Am I wrong to thing the two could be connected?

Do you have an extra key in the truck (like credit card key/fob)? It needs to lock to remote start, and won't lock with a key fob in it. Can you lock the truck from the outside with a fob and verify that locks engage? That scenario would match your symptoms. You may also have a bad lock actuator?

Only have 2 keys. I did have both with me for a while because the batteries were dying. Since I replaced batteries I noticed my car will make a chirp when unlocking via the remote button but doesn't make a chirp when locking no matter how I do it.

I almost don't think it locks, no. I will have to try this later this afternoon.

OK so update: my passenger door doesn't lock or unlock anymore. Seems like it's a lock actuator! Anyone have a part number for that, by chance?

Have you looked in the sticky post of manuals? GX 460 Manuals
When you find it, if you're the "do it yourself" type, there will also be an exploded diagram of the assembly.
Albeit, a video of someone doing the R&R is always better.

Very common failure on the 100 series, though hot temperatures were usually the last mail in the coffin of a failing actuator. Not sure how similar the process is on a GX. Super glue was involved though... I did probably a half dozen across 2 Cruisers, and some friends'. Test by manually locking the door and seeing if your remote start works.

And doubt Lexus just sells the motor that fails. They didn't on the LC, but they could be had for 7-10 bucks. Prepare for sticker shock for the entire actuator assembly... o_O

Door lock actuator failure is not uncommon. I had to replace one on my drivers door.

You can go out and source the $10 motor from 3rd party but I only paid around $50 for a refurb from Actuators Plus on eBay for $50-$60 with lifetime warranty. Need to send core back with pre-paid bag as they rebuild them.

Yeah, I had to do one or two on our old Hundy's.
Although, as Acrad posted, under $70 is not too bad for a replacement, especially if you have an afternoon to DIY.

Super helpful, thank you. I did find this actuator online but this was just a quick search. I will have to look into Actuators Plus. While I don't think the actuator I found online is OEM it does seem to be a direct replacement. For $30, I might just F around and find out.

Definitely willing to DIY it.

Yeah I can confirm at this point that the passenger door won't lock or unlock without manually doing so. Truck started up with remote start today though, since I had locked the door last night.
