Thanks for catching my mis-type. Edited my post, It was 12” -> 16”.

Yes, the 16” is significantly louder than stock when you get on it. Flooring it in an underpass or tunnel it’s nice and rowdy, in a gentlemanly sort of way. At idle there is a quiet rumble, only noticeably more than OE.

Here's a video of some revs:

Fun while it lasted, but after 2,000 miles I'm tired of it and welded the oem muffler back on last weekend. Great around town, but long highway trips or doing anything with the engine under load (towing, driving uphill) and it will give you a headache after awhile. Some people would do just fine with a setup like this. I'm just not one of those people. I do miss the low speed grumbles but I'm much happier over all with the stock muffler. I plan on trying to delete the rear resonator and seeing what that does. I know many report that it sounds the same, but I feel like my ears pick up on the changes a little more than most and that might be good enough for me.

Update on the BA Muffler exhaust.

The more I used the 8 inch system, the more the rig didn’t feel like a luxury SUV. It’s a great sound but almost a bit too loud in the cabin when driving down the highway on anything you need to use a little gas to get up. I’d rather have this type of an exhaust system on a Muscle car vs a Land Cruiser.

I ordered a 14 inch system from BA Muffler and just installed it. The exhaust is perfect and a nice compromise between the two. (Stock vs the 8 inch)

Strangely enough, the 14 inch system sounds even better than the 8 inch system since it got rid of the raspiness of the exhaust. Now it just has a wonderfully warm (comforting) and deep resonance while getting up to speed, while also not annoying any of the passengers. Then when going down the road, it’s completely silent unless you give it any gas.

My 2 cents, if you are upgrading your exhaust, shoot for the 14 inch system.

With all the people reverting back to stock on here it makes me wonder how different the mindset of an average 5.7 Tundra "modifier" is.

So many brodozers with exhaust systems that clearly have less thought into them than this thread here...

I have a 5.7L Tundra that has the 10 inch BA Muffler system, and that exhaust was much louder than even the 8 inch system in the cruiser. I think it’s due in part from the extra resonator on the cruiser absorbing some of the sound.

Surprisingly however, while the 10 inch is louder, it’s easier on the ears. The cruiser has much more drone on the 8 inch system than the Tundra, and my theory is it’s because of the increased sound deadening in the cruiser that is causing more drone. (Speculation of course)

At the end of the day, the 14 inch fixes the drone issue and it creates a really nice V8 sound that doesn’t piss off your passengers on a long road trip. It’s more comforting than anything, and makes the V8 engine sound like it should from the factory.
