2012 200 series lower tailgate faulty (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone im new to this site.
Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix the lower part of a 200 series tailgate.
When top is open i operate handle but nothing happens, no noise no nothing.
One day it just stopped working when i replaced my two batteries.
I have a rear draw system installed and have tried looking for a release mech to open but with no luck.
Any thoughts........ its like it has no power to bottom. Usually mech would operate when lever pulled down.

Any thoughts would be great.

Do you have an an electric actuator on your tail gate like the LX does? If so, it sounds like it could be an electrical problem. I believe that the LC is purely mechanical on the lower gate release.

Not sure about the Sahara's but here in the U.S. I am pretty sure the lower tailgate is mechanical. (at least on the 2011)

What batteries did you replace?

Both mains batteries also the aux

When i pulled lever down i would hear the mech operate and disengage to lower back part of tailgate.
Now pull lever nothing.
Doesnt feel any different.....i dont understand how top would operate and lower part wond lower.
Surely not a fuse or button somewhere i touched or blew.
