I have been looking all over the internet to see if I can find someone with the similar problem and I'm coming up empty handed.

I have a 2011 LX570 and when the vehicle sits and is not driven for a couple of days to a week the shifter is stiff while trying to shift from Park up or down the whole selection except for one it's in manual shift mode it can go up or down the + or - with no problem. While it has a hard time shifting the level into the selected gear the physical vehicle doesn't have a problem going into gear or driving in that selected gear. Reverse is still smooth and Drive is still smooth. The transmission can cycle up or down the gears fine. The only problem is the lever, but after driving around for awhile it goes away. I tried bringing it to the dealership to look at it before but it never happens when they have it and I don't trust them enough to leave it for a week there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do you use your parking brake? Parking brake not holding and loading the transmission? Longer the car sits, more the parking brake can slip? Just a thought.

Or is it stiff even going from R to N to D?

If so, maybe something got spilled in there by previous owner?

Yea it's stiff from R to N to D. Nothing must have spilled because I've had it since 2013 and it only happens when the car sits. I'all upload a video

No luck trying to upload the video it won't work.

After about 4-5 miles of driving the shifter now can go from P to N to D like normal operations. I still don't understand why this is happening after being not driven for awhile.

Upload to youtube, then post a link.

If you're close to the peninsula, A+ Imports on Industrial Road in San Carlos knows what they're doing.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? Im having the same problem

Sorry for the late reply. I still don't know why it does that. The dealership can't figure it out either. Let me know if you find anything out.
after seeing Chipster's quote above I use my parking brake everytime and the issue stopped on my 08'

Hello - Wondering if you were able to figure out the issue? I have recently faced a similar issue, before going to the dealership I thought I should check?

Hi I have 2014 LX570 and I have exactly the same problem. Not sure if I need to get the shift cable replaces but it shifts fines and then it gets stiff just like you said.

Thanks

If you have no tools, try to pull up the cup holder, simply just lift it up and put it a side, then lift up the shifter cover by insert your fingers under the shift cover and lift it up and reinstall it. That should take care the problem. That's how I took care mine.

I would recommend against doing that before removing other trim parts.
