ok so what makes these trails crazy? steep hills, big rocks, off camber? anyone have any pic's?

Krazy, when you look at the trail it doesn't look bad, in fact they look pretty easy. It's the mud that surrounds the rocks that is crazy, it's like grease! When the trail is wet it's almost impossible to hold a chosen line. You will fall onto rocks when you try to go around them, try to climb a rock and it will shoot you into the trees, try to traverse a side hill and you end up in the trees on the down hill side. Last time I was out there we couldn't climb a short boulder strewn hill so we all decided to turn around in the trail, I think we had 4 or 5 trucks and it probably took an hour just to get us all pointed in the other direction. Two of us got stuck, going down hill, on the way out! Deceiving and damage are the two words that I would use to describe those trails!

Hmm. Sounds like this may be too much for the 4Runner

Nice looking truck!
I'd stay away from any of the moderate trails we run except for
Carnage or the powerlines. And I'd pull the roof rack off if you do decide to run
any of the other trails. Not trying to sound negative, but I hate to
see someone go out and really damage his rig because we didn't
give some advice.

Thanks.. it's a very expensive work in progress.. LOL. Just out of curiosity, what is your concern with the roof rack? Low branches, top heavy weight?? I'm a little bummed. I missed Kina's and it sounds like this one may be to extreme for my rig. At least I know I can handle the sandy path on the beach trip in August. LOL..

It's just one more thing to get caught on a branch/tree and get ripped off.
Next time we run a moderate or hard trail you are cordially invited to ride/drive
with me. My 40 is a poster child of body damage! And I take it easy!

Next summer it will be retired as my daily driver and then I can ease my way into the rougher stuff. Until then, I'm not quite ready to get too intimate with body damage. I need some foreplay first.

Are people camping on the July run? Maybe I'll come up and just ride shotgun.

Nope. I did Moose Mountain last year with Jr and it was crazy. Winched 4 or 5 times due to how slick the trails get after a rain. Absolutley no ability to stick a chosen line. I was running Super Swamper TSL/SX and they were no help. The only way I will go back is if there is no rain for 3 or 4 days prior to the run.

Well said guys, thank you for the first hand accounts.

Anybody have picture's of this place?

I will not be back to Maine until November it is looking at.:crybaby: What are the winter events looking like if any? Really want to get involved and start meeting some toyota fans from the NE.

Re: Moose Mtn, I 've done several runs out there as it's like 10 mins from my door, including the one last year with Jr. and the Toyota trail cut Green40 posted. It is very slick and very tight. My Samurai does really well but only because it is so small I can pick lines where others just play pinball between rocks and trees. There is nothing that I would consider scary hard but it is not a place to go if you care about body damage.
