Hello all,

I'm contemplating purchasing a 2009 LC with Luxury package. It has 161,000 miles. It's one owner and has been well maintained. They are asking $22,500. I've attached undercarriage pictures. I see some rust, but I don't have enough experience to know if it's a deal breaker. Thanks for the feedback.

Regards,
Mark

Since your in the Indy area, run it over to Ed Martin Toyota and pay them to have a look. They’ll check the KDSS valve, and evaluate the corrosion as well as mechanicals. They are very experienced with LCs and the general manager there is very active on here. It will be worth the drive and better to get eyeballs on the truck instead of folks here evaluating it by pics.

That's a great suggestion. Unfortunately, the vehicle isn't nearby. (Good to know that there's a reputable dealer close by though!)

Post the location and maybe one member close-by can check it out.

I'm new also and have a question about the rust I see in the photos; it looks like surface rust on the frame welds. Isn't that relatively benign?

I've put a deposit down on it now. I'm planning on going to take a look at it tomorrow. Any advice on things I should check for would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Water pump and radiator have been replaced by dealer. Front and rear rotors have been resurfaced. Navigation update was applied. Carfax shows vehicle has been serviced the last 10 years. It does show one minor accident: front bumper - rear-ended someone but doesn't show that air bag was deployed. I verified with the salesman.

Thanks. I think it's a good price at $22,500 too. Miles are a little higher that I'd like but they are mostly highway miles apparently.

Looks good for a 10 year old LC. If you look at the mileage over 10 years, thats about average use. Seems like a bargain.

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. If I pull the trigger, I'll be posting a new thread for on advice on what to upgrade first!

looks good and a good price! slap some skid plates underneath and you'll never see the rust again haha

Like others have said, you're looking at 10 years of corrosion, which is not much. If the truck was a year old, then it would be alarming. For that price and miles, I think it's a good deal.

Has the starter been replaced yet?

Have the shop verify (show you) that the KDSS valves are not rusted shut.

22.5K seems like a steal. At that price you can afford to replace a few rusty bolts.

It does not look like it has based on CarFax and dealer report. I will ask and also look at the KDSS values too. Thanks!

I ended up pulling the trigger. Thanks again for all the feedback. It was very helpful.

I've been pouring over the forum the last few days figuring out what modifications I want to do. A lot of really good information here. Build post coming soon.
