Long time lurker, first time poster. My wife and I have been looking for a 200 for a while now and I have been hawking autotrader, etc. for potential vehicles..found two this evening and figured I'd post to get the views of this forums. The first is in Boulder, CO at an Audi dealership. Forest Green w/ 63K miles. CF One owner, asking 41k. The second is a Certified, CF one owner, white at Straatmann Toyota in MO, 70K miles asking 43k. Any thoughts are appreciated. Both seem reasonable asking price based on the mileage and there is always room to negotiate. Just looking for feedback of there is any to give as I have looked through most of the threads pertaining to the 2008 and haven't found any red flags. Thanks for your time.

I will be in boulder on Thursday if u want me to check out the green one for you. Not sure where your located. Toyota SUVs in CO tend to hold their value pretty good.

I paid 39K for my Gray 2008 LC with 75K miles.. 1 owner, all maintenance done at local Yota dealer.

The green one in Boulder is TRASHED.

I was seriously talking to the dealer over the past week.

All the chrome is peeling...scratches and dents everywhere on the exterior (check out the huge dent on the front bumper). The dealer also indicated that though the car fax is clean, paint work appears to have been done. The interior has stains all over the carpet and stains on the seats (none of which the dealer can seem to remove). He also pointed out very deep gouges along the door trim, as it looks like a dog was trapped inside and trying to get out. He also said it looked like the PO had a few kids (whatever that means). The headliner is apparently in bad shape too.

Other than that, it seems like a good deal. Lol. The dealer told me what they have in it, and even if they break even, it will still not be a good deal for you, unless you are building a trail or expedition rig to abuse.

CodyAustin5, thanks for offering to go look at it but after Mscruiser's write-up, Boulder is out. Thank you for saving me the trip MScruiser. Tas306, thanks for the info..it looks like a drive from Memphis to Washington, MO might be on the schedule. Appreciate the help everyone.

Yeah man, no problem. I was looking at it too to be used as a family cruiser, but the dealer was very helpful and upfront about everything. It is mind-boggling that someone could spent $79k on a car and trash it. :meh:

One more thing:

The PO traded it in with worn tires, so the Audi dealer put a brand new set of Blizztecks (snow tires). So not really helpful for us guys in the southeast.

I have a 2008 with 66k miles..... Other than TSB issues with my left mirror its been flawless and drives as new.....

Thanks for all the replies. Stevopike, I saw that one too but my wife is set in green, white or metallic grey. Triple net, yours looks great, I like the dark on dark rims. MScruiser, the snow tires wouldn't do us much good. Have you had any dealings with Herrin-Gear toyota down there in Jackson? They have a 2010 metallic grey, 48k miles, asking 50k

BTW, the Green Colorado car sold on Saturday. The dealer emailed me to tell me. He also informed me that the car appeared to have some sort of a brake problem. Sounds like somebody got themselves a basket case.

Yes, I have had dealings with Herrin Gear. They are not far from me. I actually took a look at that cruiser the day it went on the lot about 2 weeks ago. It was just a passing look though, as I am really looking for a green one myself. I did stick my head inside, and the interior appeared to be very clean.

If your willing to go to $50k there is a nice 2011 green one here in Fort Collins at Pedersen toyota.

I saw that one too. For $53k it seems you are flirting with the price ranges of the 2013 models. I like the looks of those better.

If I could find a green 2013 for that kind of money, I would be on it like white on rice.

$53k is really pushing it more me too, but I think I could make an exception for a 2013. :hmm:

Green will be hard to find as not many of them are out there.
I drove the one at Herrin Gear, the interior was in rougher shape than I wanted and the parking distance controller had an error. It seemed to drive find, although I did not get up to highway cruising speed.
MS cruiser, have you looked at the 2010 silver cruiser in Baton Rouge? I kick myself for not going over there to look at it when I did a tour of the south for work. I may have done better there on my BMW 3 series ZHP trade as it is a BMW dealer. Guess I will never know.
For those looking at 2008 you need to get familiar with the 2008 TSB for transfer case vibration and driveshaft clunk. The drive shaft clunk effects up until the 2010s.

CoffeeGeek,

I have not looked at any except for green ones. I am very picky, and it will unfortunately mean I may have to wait a long time until one pops up. I remember the one at Herrin Gear. Sadly, I was not in the market for one when that one was for sale. I am kicking myself for not taking a closer look at it. Do you remember how much the asking price was, or the the year?

Are there any good write-ups of threads about the vibration/clunk issues? Sounds like I might be smart to look for a 2011 or 2013.

Sorry to high-jack your thread, BoxHauler. :flipoff2:

MScruiser..no worries about the threadjack. I won't hold it against you. I'll be looking into the vibration clunk issue too and may be holding out for the 2011 or later too.. Spoke with Herrin-Gear and was told their bottom was 46.9 for the gray metallic and since that isn't our first choice color, not gonna make the 3 hour drive.

Does anybody want to share insight on the durability of the interiors? It seems to me that grey would be more durable at least from a dirt perspective than the tan (master of the obvious) but my wife likes the lighter color. With an 8 month old and Lord willing more in the future and the LC being a family adventure vehicle, the color durability is more important to me.

BoxHauler,

Depending on how serious you are about the cruiser here in Jackson, I could go back and take a look for you. Just let me know. Its only a few miles away from me.

As to the interior: I saw a few post in the Cruiser or Bruiser thread about interior color vs. durability. Surprisingly, the general consensus was that it didn't matter either way.

I am looking at the Green one in Texas right now; 30k miles 2013 for $65k. IF and only IF I can get a decent trade on my 40, I may be interested in it. I sent them all the info on my cruiser. Hopefully they will be interested.

My 08 has a drivetrain vibration at 25-30 mph. I'm hoping its related to the transfer case TSB.
Any more info on it would be appreciated.

Looks like when I'm ready to retire the 4runner and move up to the 200, it will be the most I have ever paid for a vehicle, new or used. Not complaining, there is no substitute for quality/lLand Cruiser.

I want to correct my earlier post, I actually drove the 200 in Gulfport. The one at Herin Gear was not available when I was shopping.
Regarding the 2008 to 2010 TSB on drive shaft clunk the permanent fix is a new drive shaft for $655 from Toyota (not including Beno discount). Some Hundy owners have been dealing with the clunk for a long time. They have been greasing the drive shaft spines until grease comes out between the shaft and seal. Very different drive shaft grease methodology than us 80 owners.
The transfer case TSB is a bit more $ on the 2008 as it calls for replacement of transfer case. The vibration is RPM (1700 to 2100 RPM) related not so much speed related. Link to post explaining the TSB https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/tsb-for-steering-wheel-vibration-lc-lx-differences.806752/. Regarding full time 4wd vehicles there can be many things contributing to driveline vibrations. Front axle shafts are usually a prime suspect. I drove the 200 that was for sale in Hattiesburg, it exhibited very bad vibration with load on the engine. Looks like it is now off the market.
I have got to wonder if there is not a fix for the transfer case that does not include full replacement, similar to the greasing of the drive shaft. There has got to be a repair inside the transfer case that would be much less costly to implement for vehicles that did not receive a new transfer case under warranty. Unfortunately, the momentum to finding solutions to issues on the 200 forum is not quite there as it is with the 100 forum. Maybe it is because there are a whole lot more hundys on the road, as well as more vehicles that are out of warranty and the owners are sharing expertise on the forum that they have learned by working on them themselves.
