Hi guys!

A friend from a local FJ group is asking if the Tranny, transfer case and front Diff from a 2007 FJC will fit into his 2011 FJC 4x2.

Obviously the project is to convert his 2011 4x2 into a 4x4.

He has sourced parts (tranny with transfer and front diff), but needs to know if it will be compatible and what issues might arise, before committing to the purchase of the parts.

Since I'm a FJZ80 owner, I have little info, so I thought to ask you guys on the FJ forum.

Any info along with suggestions will be much welcomed!

I will be relaying you suggestions, views and advice over to him.

Thanks In Advanced:cheers:!

In theory, should work. Yet...all the small parts, ECU's must be included, seems crazy expensive unless one is picking up something from a salvage yard, seems like a potential nightmare. That presumes, one wants it to work without an array of lights on the dash.

And, as with most projects, anything can be done if one wants to throw enough $$$$ into it, sorry I couldn't be more helpful...

ECU's must be included

Thanks for the reply!

So are we saying that his current ECU (or Tranny ECU if it applies in this case) would not be compatible with the older tranny?

He already has an automatic tranny in his 2011...

In the case of incompatible tranny ECUs, would a 2007 tranny ECU work on his 2011?

I'm assuming that FJs have separate tranny ECUs or Im I mistaken?

And also would the front Diff be a bolt on?
