Have it inspected. I'm still leaning for the '07.

i would personally take the lower mileage vehicle if it has been well taken care of. i could be wrong but once you're done with the 300k mile vehicle, you will have a difficult time selling it. just my .02
My wife is concerned about this, but I honestly don’t plan on selling it any time soon. I just need it to be safe and reliable. I just care for it not breaking down on my wife with my toddlers when she is out in the middle of winter.

Might get a compression test for the engine smoke, not sure how much $$$ that is.

I'd take the mileage. I have a 99 and appreciate it's relative simplicity...not saying I wouldn't rather have an 07...but that is a huge mileage gap.

I just purchased 2007 with 212k on it... based on how clean it was I determined that the miles must of been highway miles and worried me less than say an older vehicle at 150k. I think its reasonable to assume this example was too.
Then you have to consider what type of person (one owner in my case) drives an SUV that gets 13 mpg as their main vehicle for over 10 years and drives 21,000 miles a year. They depended on the truck for work (i assume), they kept it clean, didn't off road it. Yeah probably going to be a great truck.... or at least that was my thinking. Bets of luck.

The Land Cruiser is a 500,000 mile vehicle if it's been abused. You have nothing to worry about.
