2007 Lexus LX 470 — how much would you pay? (1 Viewer)

I’m negotiating with a seller on an 07 LX with 140k miles on it. The truck was in 2 minor accidents according to car fax and there were no noticeable signs of the frame being damaged when I checked out the vehicle.

There is a minor amount of rust, car spent most of its life in South Carolina and more recently garaged in NH.

The seller doesn’t have solid maintenance records. Hasn’t replaced heater Ts, coils, or the timing belt and water pump during their 4 years of ownership(25k miles driven during that time).

They are asking 24k for the truck. Can you all help me determine if that’s a fair price? Given the accident history and lack of maintenance I think it’s worth 18k. Please tell me if I’m way off or thinking about it right.

Thanks in advance!

No. Lol no.

For context, I paid 15 for a one owner 07 with 221k and 0 rust in 2021. Zero accidents. A novel of dealership records and t-belt + heater t’s done, too. It even had the AHC accumulators done in the mid 100,000s.

$24k is ridiculous. Esp with known accidents. I would walk. Find a clean truck.

24k is a reach in my opinion, if there is any amount of rust. I would higly recommend a PPI prior to negotiating a purchase. For 24k, you can get a vehicle from California, Arizona or any other dry climate state. The miles may be higher, but with service records and major services completed. If the major services have not been done, budget another 5000.00 on top of your offer to bring the truck up to safe standards. If the rust has corroded any areas of the frame, you can run into a money pit that could bleed your wallet empty.
Pictures would help in determining a more accurate assessment , opinions are just factless guesses at best. Our shop would be very willing to give you an unbiased look-see if the seller would let you bring it to Braintree MA.

Your gut is right. 24k is way too high. I just bought an 07 LX470 w/188k from Tennessee. No rust. No accidents. Great maintenance record including a new starter and a new steering column motor recently replaced. I also saw the timing belt and water pump sticker were done recently as well as some new hoses, heater t's and a newer radiator. The brakes, engine, steering and transmission feel amazing. Everything works. Even the windshield is original. Which is a thing you should check because if it's not installed correctly, there could be a water leak.
I got it for 21k from a dealer and I felt that was a little high. But I had been looking for so long, it was easily the best one I had seen.
Good luck with your negotiations. Don't be afraid to walk if you need to

Pics of original windshield bug, please!

No affiliation... here is a nice one for comparative perspective...

"I purchased 4 years ago from S. Carolina. "... "I just purchased another car and no longer need a big SUV. "
"THIS IS NOT MY CAR. Listing for my mom for the price she wanted it listed for. "
He/She trips all over themself... 18K is more than fair...

That part is true. The daughter listed the car on FB marketplace and I got in touch with the actually seller. Test drove the vehicle today and it drove great but we’re off on price.

You dont want a rusty truck that has been in accidents. Unless its sub 10k I would walk.

I’d say 24 is a good starting price from the seller. Feel like someone will buy this for 22-24. Its low miles, little rust and a rare color

I would guess timing belt and water pump would have been done by previous owner (check for sticker). Looks clean and in good shape. If it were an LC it would likely be sold quick. Idk, what else you have come across, but for 23k, I’d take it.

I was eyeing this one too, but yeah thought the price was a little high especially based on my initial research into service records. Also something seemed a little off with the story and it seemed they sell cars regularly. I could be wrong about that, but when I briefly looked that was the impression I got. Anyhow if you met the seller and test drove you definitely know a lot more than me. It is a nice looking truck, for sure.

From the photos, the key has a paper tag attached which is almost always from a dealer. Run the VIN on badvin.com (cheaper than Carfax by far, but has all the data). It's way too much money. I just purchased an immaculate 2003, always southern, rust free, 164K LX from the original owner and literally every maintenance item had been done (heater tees, timing belt, valve cover gaskets, all fluids swapped including AHC, etc.) for $20K. And I think I probably paid $2K too much but was willing to do so because it needs nothing and came with a three ring binder of receipts.

The seller had a PPI done but won’t send it over. Too many red flags with this and the seller has a number that’s way too high for the lack of maintenance done on this LX.

If you find another one like this send it my way lol

Here's another one I considered, but did not look at in person because my first choice worked out. 2004, 145K miles, Southern car, $20K, in South Carolina. Private owner, and they've had it for sale for a couple of months. Started at $23K or $24K and they've dropped the price a couple of times.
