so if you that, then do you lose the bluetooth phone speaker, for newer models that have it and what about the Nav speaker?

I have been looking hard for non-navi gx mainly because I want to be able to upgrade the factory stereo, plus I can't stand the look of the dated tape deck in there. This guy seems to have found a way to upgrade the factory audio head unit in a GX with navi by overlaying the new head unit and wiring in new speakers. If I find a good enough deal on a GX with navi I may just go this route to upgrade the factory audio and get rid of the hideous tape deck.

This is cool, innovative.

Those speakers are absent in the non-ML, as well as the one in the center of the dash. And yes, non-ML does have the JBL amp - the TYTO-01 module is necessary for aftermarket radios to utilize it.

Just a quick heads up that there is a variant out there on the amps. 2003-2006 can have either the JBL amp (easily supported by the Prado CANBUS adapter) or a Pioneer amp - NOT supported by the PRADO CANBUS adapter. The folks I bought my head unit from are working on a solution for those of us with the Pioneer amp. ... I just thought it should be documented here.

Cheers!
