I does look super clean. The difficult thing to swallow will be the $25K in depreciation for the next 50K miles. Every 50K miles after that will be less than $4K in value loss. I have not looked seriously at the 200 series in a while but the asking price of this one has to be approaching a clean 200 series. You've found a nice one but the price just seems way too high. Mid 20's would be a premium price for a 100 series.

I paid 28 for my '07 LX last year with 76k miles. It was also very clean inside and out. I think for my area the price was fair, not awesome or anything but just fair.

I'd take a 200 over a super low mile 100 though if my budget allowed it and I'd guess the winning bid will be well within 200 range.

For $40,000... I'd much (!) rather see AZ instead of NJ. I'm with @Simplespirit on this one - nine years in NJ might be a deal killer. I'd want to see it on a lift and hunt for rust.

9 years in NJ. I wouldn't bid anything without some good photos of the undercarriage.

That's a good point. I am surprised they didn't already include pictures when trying to get that price!

Seriously, the depreciation would be huge over the next 50k miles. I suppose if you could afford to buy this and drive it rarely just to keep things lubricated, it could be worth some money some day....just look at the Supra, if you had a 98 Turbo 6spd with 50k miles, all stock and clean. That would be worth some dough.

28k for a 07 LX with those miles would be ideal. I think that would be a great buy!!!!

When I read the title, I said to myself "not $40k."

I'd pay $25k for it if it was perfect. $30k is getting into around 100k mile 200 series.

Yea, that is true. I am following the sale. I am curious to see what it finally sells for....IF it sells.

Thanks everyone for the insight on this so far!!!!!!

I think a $30k-32k bid would be realistic. Honestly, there is no market data for something like this because they don't exist in this low-mileage form anymore (or in VERY low numbers) so the dealer can put it at what they want and nobody can tell them otherwise.

Depends on what you are looking for, I personally like the look of the '06/'07 LC's over the '08 200's, but if you are assuming that the 200 is a better buy, then yes, that is getting awfully close to an average/high-ish mileage 200 series.

I'd think if you could get an 07 that was super clean with less than 50k miles, you'd potentially have a collectors item on your hands in the next 15+ years. Obviously would need expendable cash to buy something like this and keep low miles/well maintained.

I think it is overpriced. I bought one 2 1/2 years ago with less miles from a lexus dealership for under 28K with my state sales tax all fees registration etc. Granted it was a couple years ago but the truck was 2 years newer then as well.

I think there is a premium for these low mileage trucks but not sure that there is any value for buying a northeast truck with low miles unless all the miles truly were only put on in the summer. This is not a vehicle people in the northeast buy to only drive in the summer.

If you want an investment i would think the best investment would be from a dry climate with low miles.

I have been watching the market looking for one for some time and there have been several in New England with 50-65K miles on them over the last 6-9 months. I haven't seen one listed for less than 30K but I am not sure what they are actually selling for.

There is one listed near me now with 65K miles and asking 35000. It has been for sale for at least 6 months.

I would be more concerned about rust than mechanicals and don't think I would pay the difference just for miles.

Good luck
John

While most would agree with SWUtah, some people want the low mileage example to start their life-long ownership, there is always the allure of starting with as close to a clean slate as possible.

As a basis for comparison, here's a 65k mile example fairly close to me as it turns out. They are asking $35k and it appears to be in good shape.

2006 Toyota Landcruiser/ 65K miles

Edit: JOFS beat me to it with the local one for sale.

Ask what ever you want in the end the market will determine the price.

I see the problem as the bank will not loan anywhere close to the asking price. The buyer will need to come up with a large down payment or a full cash payment. Most with that kind of liquidity are not buying a ~10 year old car that is nothing special.

A fair and reasonable purchase price would be about half of what the seller is asking. $40K??? Maybe in Canadian dollars.... even then, too high.
